The 500-mile open-wheel car race takes place in May each year. The wartime spans when the race was not held were from 1917–1918 and 1942–1945. From 1913 on, the race has had significant international involvement. The race motivated many teams and manufacturers to relocate to Indianapolis. From 1911 to 1964, thirteen drivers died from racing at the event. At this time, cars reached 150 mph at different points on the track. De Soto was an American car manufacturer, operating from 1928 until 1961 as a part of the Chrysler Corporation. -
Mullin Museum 2013 June July 2013 Mullin Museum by Scott Couchman
Mullin Museum 2013 June www.ocPanteras.com July 2013 Mullin Museum by Scott Couchman. Team Pantera of Orange County enjoyed a first class visit to a first class venue of French classics at the Mullin Automobile Museum on June 8th, 2013. Assembled by Peter W. Mullin, this collection is his passion. The museum's website declares, “For me the French automobiles of the 1920s and 1930s represent the pinnacle of 20th Century art and design. As an avid collector, the preservation of these rolling sculptures for the enjoyment of future generations is both a responsibility and a pleasure. I relish the stewardship and preservation of their exciting histories.” - Peter W. Mullin. Car Collection – With a total of over 350 cars, the museum continually rotates to display approximately 60 vehicles at any one time. The most 'common' marks are Bugatti, Avion Voisin, Delahaye, Hispano-Suiza, and Talbot-Lago, plus an upstairs mezzanine of LeMans race cars. In particular, it includes the worlds largest collection of Voisins. The heart of the collection is the: • 1939 Delahaye Type 165 Cabriolet, and one of only 6 12-cylinder Type 165s that was built to represent France at the 1939 New York World’s Fair. • 1935 Avions Voisin C25 Aerodyne, 'Best of Show' winner at the 2011 Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance. This magnificent car was first presented at the 1934 Paris Salon de l' Automobile. • 1934 Avions Voisin C27 Grand Sport Cabriolet, constructed in 1934 with a special low chassis C27 for the Shah of Persia. • 1936 BUGATTI Type 57SC Atlantic, the 2003 Pebble Beach 'Best of Show' award winner. -

City of churches, birthplace of the frog cake, home of the Mall’s Balls – Adelaide’s been called a lot of things over the years, but world-famous innovation hub? Perhaps not. Things are changing though, rapidly. With big players like the Australian Space Agency, Lot Fourteen and Brabham Automotive now calling our city home, SA’s innovators are being recognised on a global scale, opening our eyes – and the world’s – to concepts that can be as simple as finding a faster way to do your shopping or as complex as developing artificial intelligence. https://samotor.raa.com.au/adelaide-the-rise-of-an-innovative-city/ 2/24 31/12/2020 Adelaide: The rise of an innovative city | samotor The RAA Magazine The Australian Space Agency Space technology benefits all Australians.
