Design- Destruction of Beauty standards

Created by Cameron Burns The celebrity I chose is: Rihanna Society has these beauty standards and each country has their own so for America: 1. The vertical distance between the eyes and mouth, and the horizontal distance between the eyes are key determinants of the "ideal" face.

2. Beautiful people make about 5% more an hour than their average-looking colleagues.

Research 3. Being too attractive can hurt job and scholarship opportunities.

Final Design Artist Statement

The Red Carpet design project was about picking a cause that is connected to a celebrity and use that cause in the design. My cause was the destruction of beauty standards, the fashion industry has created a standard for the idealized look or 10 head tall body with an hourglass curve, long legs and long arms. “Perfect people” don’t exist, “perfect” is based on the idea of an ideal image. Someone that people strive to look like. My purpose of these designs are to show that it doesn’t matter how tall, short, big, or small you are, people need to love their bodies and know that their appearance isn’t everything. My designs for the red carpet are inspired by the fenty show vol.2 because her lingerie collection was about the inclusivity of all body types and everyone's uniqueness. My illustration is a comparison to display a plus-size and an “idealized” body next to one another with similar dresses to show that it doesn’t matter what dress size you are, it matters to be confident in your own skin and to never take the judgement of other people. I started off my designs by incorporating the little details in fenty show into my designs and the lingerie details. I also wanted to show some skin with a nice flow from the bottom for a nice fancy yet not conservative look. The colors for the outfits are the color scheme from the , bright neon colors and a black background so I used some black when I wanted to detail. I also used the neon colors for the hair to show a different look for a runway. Rules are allowed to be broken if the rules are standards that are unreasonable for the average working woman. Woman should be allowed to express themselves in anyway they please. That is what I wanted to show in my designs.
