2018 Primary State Election Guide & Voting Recommendations Here's 2018 Primary State Election Guide & Voting Recommendations Here’s What the Ratings Mean: A candidate’s questionnaire score and/or voting record and legislative efforts were taken into consideration before a final grade was assigned to a candidate. CRPA candidate ratings are solely based on a candidate’s position on Second Amendment and hunting related issues. (D) Democrat Party (G) Green Party (L) Libertarian Party (NPP) No Preferred Party (P&F) Peace and Freedom Party (AE) American Elect Party (R) Republican DNR: Indicates that the candidate was sent a CRPA questionnaire and failed to answer the questionnaire. As a result, CRPA was unable to evaluate the candidate’s position on firearms and hunting-related issues. A+: Indicates a candidate in the performance of his or her current duties has been documented by third parties (i.e., Media) as advancing Second Amendment rights. A: Indicates a pro-gun candidate who strongly supports CRPA positions on Second Amendment and hunting-related issues. B: Indicates a candidate that supports Second Amendment and hunting-related issues in most instances. C: Indicates a candidate that supports some CRPA positions but is not consistently a pro-gun or pro- hunting candidate. D: Indicates an anti-gun and anti-hunting candidate who is not supportive of CRPA positions. F: Indicates a vehement anti-gun candidate. If the candidate is an incumbent, he or she always oppose gun owner’s rights and/or actively support or sponsor anti-gun and anti-hunting legislation. (I): Incumbent candidate. *: Indicates the assigned grade is based on the candidate’s voting record as it relates to the Second Amendment 1.Candidates that are in Red Bold Type have also received the endorsement of the California Rifle & Pistol Association Political Action Committee. 2. This is the week that primary election ballots are officially sent to each and every California registered to vote-by-mail voter. You’ll get a chance on June 5th to actually vote at the polls, but if you are a vote-by-mail voter, then this is the week to be engaged, and vote! Each year the California Rifle & Pistol Association (CRPA) produces a voting guide for state and local elections. The CRPA grades candidates based on the answers they give on CRPA’s candidate questionnaire, their voting record, and / or their direct involvement in protecting the rights of those who choose to own firearms in California. This year we are pleased to announce that we have added vote recommendations for judicial candidates to the CRPA voter guide. The information on these judicial candidates isn’t widely available, and we are still working to get info on some of these judicial candidates. But it’s important to be involved in these races because electing judges who support the Constitution and the Second Amendment could be a big factor for fairness in the treatment of law abiding gun owners who accidentally violate California’s hyper-technical and confusing gun laws, and in succeeding in some of the ongoing legal challenges to California ridiculous and ill-conceived gun laws. If you do not yet see a recommendation for a judicial candidate, or a local government candidate in your area on the list- keep checking back! More candidates will be added to the list as information is made available. Also, if you know of a strong Second Amendment candidate in your area, please let us know about them. We would be happy to take a look and grade them accordingly. Finally, share this information with your friends and family and encourage them to follow these recommendations! We know that life gets busy, but there should be no excuse for not getting to the polls. We are counting on you! Before you can make a statement at the polls, you must be registered to vote. It is not too late! You have until May 21st to register to vote. If you are not registered for vote-by-mail, you can request a mail-ballot now. The request must be received by Tuesday, May 29th. All completed mail-in ballots must be postmarked by June 5th or delivered to a polling place on election day. Election day is where it gets real. It is where we are able to vote our convictions and have that voice heard. There are hundreds of thousands of registered gun owners in the state. If we all vote for pro-Second Amendment candidates, we could change the face of California. While some groups are steering clear of politics, CRPA is not afraid to tell you which candidates make the grade. Don't let another election slip past or you could see your right slip completely away. Responses to these developments have ranged from existential fear to unbridled optimism. This technology opens up a plethora of ethical considerations and ontologi- cal questions about what it means to be human. The approach one takes to questions arising in AI is largely shaped by our philosophical presuppositions and our world- view. This article sketches some of the implications and important questions that arise surrounding AI.     Follies in Biohacking: The Transhumanist Perspective Jose Moreno In our insatiable quest for control and understanding, humanity has arrived at a pivotal point in its existential journey. The experiment now under the microscope, the literal surgery at hand, is that which we hold nearest, and that which holds us intact: our human body and mind. The underlying premise here is that natural selection has taken us for a wild ride of genetic randomness that lasted a millennia, and dropped us off at the intersection of technology and decision. It is up to us, whether as a society or as individuals, contentiously, to decide whether the next stage of human evolution is propelled forward by genetic enhancements, implantable micro-devices, and brain-boosting nootropics. #1 There exists a school of thought that encompasses this ideology of radical self-actualization, known as transhumanism. Transhumanists are technologists who subscribed to a techno- focused form of libertarianism. Quite literally, the goal is to become a cyborg, and use any available means of biohacking to get there, regardless of what any regulator has to say. " My brief journey through the nascent transhumanist scene started this Summer, in the culturally forward-thinking hills and tech-worshipping hacker-houses of Silicon Valley. While wandering through the Mission district of San Francisco, I happened to strike up a conversation with a guy named Zoltan Istvan, amidst a group of other people at a comedy club one night after work. Zoltan is the de facto leader of transhumanism, and is running for Governor of California to spread awareness for the movement.
