We use this activity to explore the similarities of these festivals (lights, special foods, expressions used, telling stories, symbols, music, spending time with family) and to reinforce the ideas of caring kindness and respect. Chinese New Year, Eid al Adha, Diwali, Chritsmas, Kwaanza, Winter Solstice and Hanukka are just some of the holidays that people in our community celebrate at this time of year. The break is a fantastic time to learn with your children about the beliefs of another culture. Go to the museum. Take a drive to see the lights. Visit Chinatown for the Lunar New Year. These are just a few things that you can do to explore another culture. Below you will find a few examples of the celebrations we explore during the Festival of Lights. Festival of Lights WINTER SOLSTICE 2 Heart of the Community Kingsview Parent Meet and Greet On Friday, November 26th, the parent meet and greet hosted a workshop called ‘Understanding the role of the Children’s Aid Society’.
