All Seasons Ice Rinks has teamed up with Northern Ice Skating Club to sponsor The 2013 Great Pumpkin Blast Basic Skills Competition. This Basic Skills Competition is approved by the USFS and conducted in accordance with the USFS rulebook. The competition is open to ALL skaters who are current eligible (ER 1.00) members of either the Basic Skills Program and/or are full members of U.S. . To be eligible, skaters must have submitted a membership application or be a member in good standing. Members of other organizations are eligible to compete but must be registered with the host Basic Skills Program/Club or any other Basic Skills Program/Club. Eligibility will be based on skill level as of closing date of entries. ALL SNOWPLOW SAM and BASIC SKILLS SKATERS THROUGH BASIC 8 must skate at highest level passed or one level higher and NO official U.S. Figure Skating test may have been passed including MIF or individual dances.

Skaters, Please Note: For the Free Skate 1-Free Skate 6, Test Track and Well Balanced levels, eligibility will be based only upon highest free skate test level passed ( test level will not determine skater’s competitive level). Skaters may skate at highest level passed OR one level higher BUT not both levels in the same event during the same competition.

Entries and Fees: All entries must be submitted no later than October 5, 2013. The initial event is $55.00 and each additional event is $15.00. Entry Fees are non-refundable after the closing date. ENTRY FORMS MUST BE FILLED OUT COMPLETELY. Schedule of Events: Schedules will be available online at www.allseasonsicerinks.com by October 20, 2013.

Music: CD’s are required and are to be labeled with the skater’s last name and event information. Time duration is always +/- 10 seconds. Music must be handed in at the registration desk no later than one hour prior to the scheduled program event. Please remember to bring an extra copy of the CD and pick up your music following your competition event.

Check-in/Registration: All skaters are to register one hour prior to their scheduled program event. Skaters are to first register at the registration desk and turn in their program CD. CD’s are required and should be labeled with the skater’s name and event information.

Beginner Jumps: Entrants will qualify according to their free skate level, but may ‘skate up’ one level. All levels will be skated on ½ ice. Jumps should be performed exactly as stated. Skaters will be given two opportunities to perform each jump and will be judged on the best one. Repeated jumps must be the same as the original. The following format will be used: the first skater will take the ice and attempt the first jump twice, then attempt the second jump twice before going to the next skater. The repeat of each jump element must be the same jump(s) as the first when there is a choice. This procedure will be repeated throughout the event. Maximum time is 1 minute. INTERPRETIVE PROGRAM: Format: The Organizing Committee will pre-select and edit musical choices appropriate for the events. During warm-up skaters will hear selection of music twice. Following the warm-up all skaters except for the first skater will be escorted to a soundproof locker room or another area of the arena. The first skater will hear the music one more time and then perform a program to the music. As each skater performs the next skater in line will be allowed to hear the music for the third time before they perform to the music. The listening skater will not be allowed to view the performing skater. Levels: Levels will be broken by ability with ages divided appropriately. FORMAT: Fun event! Skaters for this event will be divided into levels according to the highest level they have passed. There is a minimum of 3 skaters on each team. Each skater will do one required element.

Basic Skills: Forward one foot spin- optional free leg position (min.3 rev.) Free Skate 1-6, Beginner, No Test: Toe loop (single) Pre-Preliminary: Lutz jump + Loop Jump (single) Preliminary: Camel Spin (min. 3 rev.)

DANCE – Solo Pattern or Couple Pattern

Format: In the pattern dance event (solo or couple) the skaters will perform the two dances chosen fopr their appropriate level. Skater/couple will perform three patterns of each dance before moving on the next dance with warm-up placed between dances.

The LOC will have a list of coaches that are cleared for credentials at the competition. Coaches will need to check in at the event registration desk and show a government issued I.D. to receive a credential. Coaches who are NOT on the list will need to show proof of membership in both U.S. Figure Skating and PSA, a Coaches registration card, proof of Category A or B compliance in CER and a photo I.D. at check in. If a coach cannot provide a photo I.D. and is not on the list or cannot produce the necessary documents he or she will not be allowed a credential – NO EXCEPTIONS. We strongly urge all coaches to have their cards with them.
