Em seguida, agrega os temas das políticas da internet em três campos de disputas fundamentais: sobre a infra-estrutura da rede; sobre os formatos, padrões e aplicações; e sobre os conteúdos. Analisa os temas políticos atuais mais relevantes de cada campo conflituoso, articulando dois aspectos: o tecno-social e o jurídico-legislativo. Este artigo trabalha com o conceito de arquitetura de poder, uma extensão da definição de Alexander Galloway sobre o gerenciamento protocolar, e com a perspectiva de Yochai Benkler sobre a existência de uma esfera pública interconectada. Sua conclusão indica que a liberdade nas redes cibernéticas depende da existência da navegação não-identificada, ou seja, do anonimato. -

Conclusions and Recommendations 18 Bibliography 20 Appendix: Articles in Content Analysis 21 3 Executive Summary China is an increasingly important player in global affairs but there is very little research on how it is presented in the international media. This matters because even in today's increasingly interconnected world the media can often influence our perceptions of other countries. This study presents a content analysis of news stories about China in the online editions of the New York Times, BBC News, and the Economist over two separate weeks in the autumn of 2013. In total, 129 stories were analysed. Due to the time constraints of a three month fellowship it was not possible to compile a broader data set which might have offered greater insights. So this paper should not be seen as a definitive study. Instead, it is a snapshot intended to open a discussion about representations of China in the global media and pave the way for further research. -

We will examine how hacker values are realized and constituted by different legal, technical, and ethical activities of computer hacking—for example, free software production, cyberactivism and hactivism, cryptography, and the prankish games of hacker underground. We will pay close attention to how ethical principles are variably represented and thought of by hackers, journalists, and academics and we will use the example of hacking to address various topics on law, order, and politics on the Internet such as: free speech and censorship, privacy, security, surveillance, and intellectual property. We finish with an in-depth look at two sites of hacker and activist action: Wikileaks and Anonymous. LEARNER OBJECTIVES This will allow us to 1) demonstrate familiarity with variants of hacking 2) critically examine the multiple ways hackers draw on and reconfigure dominant ideas of property, freedom, and privacy through their diverse moral 1 codes and technical activities 3) broaden our understanding of politics of the Internet by evaluating the various political effects and ramifications of hacking. -

Abstract Intrigue: Murder in the Lucky Holiday Hotel is a podcast that is Agatha Christie meets House of Cards with an Oriental twist. It tells the story of the downfall of Bo Xilai, a once powerful and charismatic politician, who could have eclipsed current President Xi Jingping as a future leader of China if the cards fell his way. Despite the challenges of reporting in China, BBC China Editor Carrie Gracie is able to explain with clarity the tale of money, sex and power than unravelled Bo Xilai. Gracie guides us through her five-part series with clear knowledge of her beat of 25 years. She is upfront about the many restrictions and hardships involved in reporting on an important tale from one of the world’s most repressive superpowers. Despite the seriousness of the subject matter, Gracie is a charismatic, jovial presenter, who delivers the story with zest. -

Law* INTRODUCTION In the past half century, our world has experienced a radical change comparable to the Industrial Revolution of the nineteenth century. At least five elements are key: growing disparity of human opportunity, advance of formal human rights and equality, information transformation, economic globalization, and climate change. My focus is on economic disparity and gender equality in the United States. These two issues, huge in and of themselves, interact with the other cataclysmic changes of our time. I came to law teaching in the early 1970s from civil rights work with poor people. -

By interrogating the power dynamics between the Party-state, domestic capital and transnational media capital, this thesis explores respective roles each of the three stakeholders have played in shaping the commercialization and marketization of the Chinese film industry. Methodically, this thesis primarily relies on elite interviews with industry professionals, together with critical discourse analysis of one key policy document, and secondary data collected from news outlets, trade publications, industry reports, etc. -

Introduction Hong Kong has entered its last years under British administration, and the dramatic final act is being played out.1 When Hong Kong reverts to Chinese rule, it will do so under the protection of the Basic Law,2 a mini-constitution created pursuant to a Joint Declaration 3 be- tween the United Kingdom and the People's Republic of China (PRC) that delineates the principles under which Hong Kong will be gov- erned. The former and future rulers of the city diverge widely in their political, economic, and social systems, and despite the elaborate detail of the relevant treaties providing for the transfer,4 there have been disagreements during the period of transition. -
