Sdinburyk, WARRENDER LETTERS CORRESPONDENCE OF SIR GEORGE WARRENDER BT. LORD PROVOST OF EDINBURGH, AND MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT FOR THE CITY, WITH RELATIVE PAPERS 1715 Transcribed by MARGUERITE WOOD PH.D., KEEPER OF THE BURGH RECORDS OF EDINBURGH Edited with an Introduction and Notes by WILLIAM KIRK DICKSON LL.D., ADVOCATE EDINBURGH Printed at the University Press by T. and A. Constable Ltd. for the Scottish History Society 1935 Printed in Great Britain PREFACE The Letters printed in this volume are preserved in the archives of the City of Edinburgh. Most of them are either written by or addressed to Sir George Warrender, who was Lord Provost of Edinburgh from 1713 to 1715, and who in 1715 became Member of Parliament for the City. They are all either originals or contemporary copies. They were tied up in a bundle marked ‘ Letters relating to the Rebellion of 1715,’ and they all fall within that year. The most important subject with which they deal is the Jacobite Rising, but they also give us many side- lights on Edinburgh affairs, national politics, and the personages of the time. The Letters have been transcribed by Miss Marguerite Wood, Keeper of the Burgh Records, who recognised their exceptional interest. Miss Wood has placed her transcript at the disposal of the Scottish History Society. The Letters are now printed by permission of the Magistrates and Council, who have also granted permission to reproduce as a frontispiece to the volume the portrait of Sir George Warrender which in 1930 was presented to the City by his descendant, Sir Victor Warrender, Bt., M.P. -

These Savvy Subitizing Cards Were Designed to Play a Card Game I Call Savvy Subitizing (Modeled After the Game Ratuki®)
********Advice for Printing******** You can print these on cardstock and then cut the cards out. However, the format was designed to fit on the Blank Playing Cards with Pattern Backs from http://plaincards.com. The pages come perforated so that once you print, all you have to do is tear them out. Plus, they are playing card size, which makes them easy to shufe and play with.! The educators at Mathematically Minded, LLC, believe that in order to build a child’s mathematical mind, connections must be built that help show children that mathematics is logical and not magical. Building a child’s number sense helps them see the logic in numbers. We encourage you to use !these cards in ways that build children’s sense of numbers in four areas (Van de Walle, 2013):! 1) Spatial relationships: recognizing how many without counting by seeing a visual pattern.! 2) One and two more, one and two less: this is not the ability to count on two or count back two, but instead knowing which numbers are one and two less or more than any given number.! 3) Benchmarks of 5 and 10: ten plays such an important role in our number system (and two fives make a 10), students must know how numbers relate to 5 and 10.! 4) Part-Part-Whole: seeing a number as being made up of two or more parts.! These Savvy Subitizing cards were designed to play a card game I call Savvy Subitizing (modeled after the game Ratuki®). Printing this whole document actually gives you two decks of cards. -

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA Los Angeles Nos(Otros), Los Textual Poch@s: Understanding Notions of Chicanx/Latinx Identities through the Digital Art of Rio Yañez A thesis submitted in partial satisfaction of the requirements for the degree Master of Arts in Chicana and Chicano Studies by María Daniela Z. Jiménez 2016 ABSTRACT OF THE THESIS Nos(Otros), Los Textual Poch@s: Understanding Notions of Chicanx/Latinx Identities through the Digital Art of Rio Yañez by María Daniela Z. Jiménez Master of Arts in Chicana and Chicano Studies University of California, Los Angeles, 2016 Professor María C. Pons, Co-Chair Professor Charlene Villaseñor Black, Co-Chair This thesis presents the concept of textual poch@ through Bay Area-based artist, Rio Yañez’s artwork. The textual poch@ is an individual who experiences marginalization and/or has to justify themselves for deviating from their society’s dominant narratives and cultural tastes. Their deviation results in their own interpretation and reconfiguration of their culture (usually associated with aspects of their identity, such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, physical abilities) through a rasquache framework – in terms of making do with what they have to create something new. Through visual and textual analyses, I focus on two of Yañez’s digital art collections, Morrissey-inspired artwork and Japanese-influence portraiture series, as my case studies. In doing so, I demonstrate how these two collections push against essentialism and unfix Chicanx/Latinx identity as it is tied to dominant Chicanx/Latinx cultural practices and tastes. ii The thesis of María Daniela Z. Jiménez is approved. Genevieve G. -

The Card Game WAR Object Oriented Programming
The Card Game WAR The card game WAR is a simple card game for two players.1 The 52 cards in a conventional deck are shuffled, and each player draws three cards. The remaining cards are placed in a pile facedown between the two players. Play then proceeds as a series of rounds. During each round both players select one of their three cards, and place it face up in front of them. If the ranks of both cards are the same, then both players retain their cards (setting them aside). Otherwise, the player with the highest-ranking card keeps both cards (again, setting them aside). After playing their card, players draw one card from the deck to replace the card just played. The game ends when the deck is exhausted, and the player with the most cards wins. 1 This description is taken from Budd, it is not the usual version of the game, but is similar. 1 Object Oriented Programming General approach: 1. Examine the problem statement and identify the objects. 2. Group the objects into classes. 3. Identify the actions (or responsibilities), which the classes perform. Nouns identify objects and classes. The actions (or responsibilities) are identified by verbs. 2 Objects of the Game WAR card • Cards are ordered by the relationship rank – i.e., cards can be considered to have one higher than the other, or be equal. player • Holds three cards. • Draws cards. • Plays cards. • Keeps cards. deck • Contains 52 cards initially • Is shuffled • Cards are drawn from it. 3 UML Class Diagram of War %CTF VJGATCPM +PVGIGT VJGAUWKV 5WKV &GEM VQR%CTF KPV %CTF %CTF 9#4 VJG&GEM cards %CTF UXUWKVUTXKPV %CTF FTCY %CTF QRGTCVQT QUQUVTGCO C%CTF EQPUV %CTF QUVTGCO UJWHHGN OCKP QRGTCVQT E%CTF E%CTF DQQN KU'ORV[ DQQN QRGTCVQT E%CTF E%CTF DQQN &GEM &GEM QRGTCVQT E%CTF E%CTF DQQN IGV4CPM KPV IGV5WKV UWKVU O[%CTFU RNC[GT RNC[GT 2NC[GT O[5EQTG KPV TGOQXGF%CTF KPV FTCY %CTF CFF2QKPVU JQY/CP[KPV 2NC[GT C&GEM&GEM 2NC[GT 5EQTG +PVGIGT TGRNCEG%CTF C&GEM&GEM 4 Why C++ Bjarne Stroustrup developed C++ with the following properties: 1.
