DAY 01: CUSCO - PATABAMBA – HUCHUYQOSQO We leave Cusco early, and take private transport to the village of Patabamba in approximately 1 ½ from this point we star hiking, using the Inca trail going to Huchuy Qosqo, this trail had been used since the Inca´s time, during the day we cross the highest of which is Patabamba Pass (4100m/14300ft), this an interesting view of point where we can see the snowcapped mountains of Vilcanota Range, after a break we continuing but this time descending steps of this Inca trail to arrive to Huchuy Qosqo (3550m/11646ft) in this place we have the opportunity to pass the night in a local house Family where we can share tradition and culture. Bus Travel Time: 1 ½ hours Approximate Walking Time: 7 hours Approximate walking distance: 11 kms Difference of height: 3762-4393 Patabamba Pass -3550m DAY 02: HUCHUY QOSQO – PISAC - OLLANTAYTAMBO – AGUAS CALIENTES After the breakfast, we continuing with the hike 2 hours of a descending trail that arrives to Lamay (2941m/6948ft), where our bus will be ready to take us to the Sacred Valley, This Day we star the tour in the Sacred Valley of the Incas visiting Pisac which is an agriculture Inca building with huge Terraces and its famous temple of the sun, after or having a good time in this place we go the traditional market of Pisac where you can buy some souvenirs, at noon we continuing with our tour and now going to Urubamba where we will have lunch and time for break before to arrive to Ollantaytambo; knew as a fortress, we visit this place and finally we go to the train station where we take train to go to Aguas Calientes (2000m/6561ft) knew as Machupicchu Town, where we pass the night. Approximate Walking Time: 2 hours Approximate walking distance: 3 kms Difference of height: 3550-2941-2000m Train travel time: 1 ½ hours DAY 03: MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO We will leave our hotel early in the morning to go to Machu Picchu (2400m/7874f) by tourist bus. Them, we will arrive at the citadel and we will visit with the tour guide during two hours. After a guided tour around the archeological site, including information about life and culture of the Incas, you will have enough time to enjoy Machu Picchu and Wayna Picchu (2750m/9022f) on your own. We will leave Machupicchu to get to Aguas Calientes where we have to take the train to get back to Cusco. Moreover, you can visit the hot springs in Aguas Calientes to relax a bit before to take train you must talk with tour guide about it. IMPORTANT: (1) From Patabamba to Lamay we are accompanied by porters or horsemen and mules that will carry all camping equipment. (2) Our Agency offers an emergency horse in case that someone is tired or sick. (3) Hotels: Our hotels are normally 3***, if you required a hotel 5***** is available on your request. (4) The entrances for the city tour and sacred valley are not included, we normally get these tickets in place (5) Tips for porters, cooks and guides are always welcome. Small backpack with rain shelter (30 or 40 litters is well enough). Clothing for warm and cold climate like a waterproof jacket. Trekking shoes. Slippers or sandals (for showers and hot springs). Woolen or synthetic sock sand a sweater. Long- and short-sleeved polo’s/T-Shirts. Rain poncho and a hat. Bathing suit (for the hot springs in Aguas Calientes). Sunscreen, insect repellent, disinfecting alcohol and gel and toilet paper. Camera (wrapped in plastic bag), a flash light and batteries. Some snacks like chocolate bars and dry fruit. Original passport, original ISIC student card (In case you are student) and extra money in soles.
