Neurotic dance music.” But, beyond what’s immediately apparent (that these guys are a crazy good time and make you want to have a sweaty dance party all night long) SO4 have both the musical chops and the lyrical substance to be more than just fun. Their staying power has been proven as they continue to receive accolades on a local, national, and international level. Their live show is nothing short of legendary (they’re infamous at Austin’s SXSW music festival) so just listening to their albums won’t do them justice. Still, if you’re into anything like LCD Soundsystem or The Bloody Beetroots, check out both Not Saying/Just Saying (2006) and Reintegration Time (2009). SO4’s Lyle Bell and Gravy are also members of Whitey Houston, a 4-person rock outfit worth check- ing out.
