Shorter Term Challenges for Local Government • Preparation for potential dislocation at ports (both sea and airports) across the south of ; • Highways implications; • Advice and interaction with key local businesses which rely on frictionless trade, for example BMW in and Bosch in Buckinghamshire; • Rural industry standards; • The potential shortage of key supplies in the event of ‘no deal’; • Messages to local EU non-UK staff in the event of ‘no deal’ and the potential consequences for disruption to health and social care; and • The role of local government in any civil unrest.
