  • Press Release 2014-12-19
Press release 2014-12-19 Vattenfall divests Danish power plant Vattenfall is selling its CHP-plant Fyn Power Station in Denmark to Fjernvarme Fyn in line with group strategy to divest non-core assets and to decrease CO2 exposure. Denmark remains a core Vattenfall market for renewable energy production. Danish district heating company Fjernvarme Fyn will purchase Fyn Power Station including a waste incineration plant for an enterprise value of 1.1 billion Danish kronor, approximately 1.4 billion Swedish kronor. The sales price consists of 600 million Danish kronor, approximately 760 million Swedish kronor, in cash consideration and takeover of decommissioning obligations and environmental liabilities. The transaction is expected to be completed by 1 January 2015. - Vattenfall is the largest owner and producer of onshore wind power in Denmark and we continuously work on our strategic goal to transform the production portfolio away from CO2- emitting production into renewable production. The divestment of Fyn power station is another important step to continue to shift from fossil fuels into green energies, says Ingrid Bonde, Vattenfall Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer. The transaction is subject to approval of the city council of Odense and the city council of Nordfyns Kommune as well as of the Danish Energy Agency and the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority. After the divestment of Fyn Power Station and Amager Power Station in 2013, Nordjylland Power Station is Vattenfalls only remaining conventional power plant asset in Denmark. Denmark remains a core market for wind production for Vattenfall, having currently 263 wind turbines in 37 wind farms.

  • Danish Reactions to German Occupation Brings a Full Overview of the Occupation to an English-Speaking Audience
DANISH DANISH OR FIVE YEARS DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR, Denmark was TO REACTIONS F occupied by Germany. While the Danish reaction to this period of its history has been extensively discussed in Danish-language publications, it has not until now received a thorough treatment in English. Set in the context of modern Danish foreign relations, and tracing the country’s responses to successive crises and wars in the region, Danish Reactions to German Occupation brings a full overview of the occupation to an English-speaking audience. Holbraad carefully dissects the motivations and ideologies driving conduct during the occupation, and his authoritative coverage of the preceding century provides a crucial link to understanding the forces behind Danish GE foreign policy divisions. Analysing the conduct of a traumatized and strategically exposed R small state bordering on an aggressive great power, the book traces a MAN development from reluctant cooperation to active resistance. Holbraad CARSTEN CARSTEN goes on to survey and examine the subsequent, and not yet quite HOLBRAAD HOLBRAAD finished, debate among historians about this contested period. That O debate is between those still siding with the resistance and a majority CCUPATION more inclined to justify limited cooperation with the occupiers – and DANISH sometimes even condone various acts of collaboration. CARSTEN HOLBRAAD studied at the LSE with a Leverhulme undergraduate scholarship, and gained a DPhil at the University of Sussex in the field of European history of ideas. He has held REACTIONS research and teaching positions at the Institute of Advanced Studies of the ANU in Canberra, Carleton University and Queen’s University in Canada, El Collegio de Mexico and at LSE and UCL.

  • Nordic GTL – a Pre-Feasibility Study on Sustainable Aviation Fuel from Biogas, Hydrogen and CO2
Nordic GTL – a pre-feasibility study on sustainable aviation fuel from biogas, hydrogen and CO2 Anders Winther Mortensen, Henrik Wenzel, Kasper Dalgas Rasmussen, Stine Sandermann Justesen, Erik Wormslev and Martin Porsgaard 24th October 2019 Printed version: ISBN 978-87-93413-17-7 On-line version: ISBN 978-87-93413-16-0 Funded by: Co-funded by: Villum Foundation, the V-SUSTAIN project and Innovation Fund Denmark, the SYMBIO project Preface, aim and acknowledgements The study at hand is a pre-feasibility study, and the aim is to provide an indication of the technical and economic feasibility of producing aviation fuel from feedstocks of biogas, CO2 and sustainable hydrogen. The study aims, further, to identify actors and stakeholders of this aviation fuel supply chain and to provide the platform for a continued feasibility analysis and the formation of a consortium of partners. As a final step, after the more in-depth feasibility analysis, it is the hope and ambition of the authors of the study that such a consortium of actors in the whole supply- and demand chain will be able to agree on a Memorandum of Understanding allowing for the investment in a full-scale gas-to-liquid sustainable aviation fuel production. The study has been limited to a few man-months of work, beginning April 2019 and ending with the publication of this report October 2019. The project partners and main contributors have been: • SDU, University of Southern Denmark, PhD student Anders Winther Mortensen, PhD student Kasper Dalgas Rasmussen and Professor Henrik Wenzel • NIRAS, Director of Innovation, Climate Change & Energy Erik Wormslev and Consultant Stine Sandermann Justesen • NISA, Nordic Initiative for Sustainable Aviation, Project Director Martin Porsgaard The project was funded by several parties, i.e.
