• Find out what kind of phone they have

• iPhone • Apple ID and password • Optional – have them update iOS prior to visit

• Connect to your Wifi

• iOS 1. Open hearing aid battery doors 2. Turn on 3. Setting > General > > MFI Hearing Devices (in Hearing section) 4. Close hearing aid battery doors 5. Tap the name of the hearing aids

• Android – Will vary Pairing Step 1 Unlock your phone and find the Settings app.

Step 2 Once in the Settings app, go to Connections.

Step 3 Turn on Bluetooth. Pairing

Step 4 Close the Settings app and open the Google Play app.

Step 5 Search for the appropriate app and install it. Pairing Step 6 Open the app and follow the instructions to pair your hearing aids.

Step 7 Open & close battery doors to put your hearing aid into pairing mode.

Step 8 Congratulate yourself! Your hearing aids and the app are now paired! Best Practices at Delivery Fitting Visit

• KEEP THINGS SIMPLE

• Update phone software and/or download Mobile App early in visit

• Assess patients smartphone abilities

• Have patients do as much as possible

• Give homework Patient Homework

• Only give 2-3 things – Action items for 1st follow up visit

• Novice Smartphone User – Volume control – 1-2 programs (if any)

• Intermediate Smartphone User – Multiple programs – Streaming

• Expert Smartphone User – Favorites, equalizer, directionality, etc. Troubleshooting Both iOS & Android Common Issues

• Still connected to fitting software

• Batteries are out of charge – Customer complains of battery drain

• Phone is not updated

• Phone is not compatible

• Receiver wire is bad

• Old hearing aids still paired Troubleshooting Quickly

1. Unpair all hearing aids from phone 2. Uninstall ALL hearing aid Apps 3. Close all open Apps and program windows 4. Recommended but optional - Update phone to latest iOS update 5. In fitting software – delete ALL Bluetooth pairings if available (not available in all manufacturers) 6. Open hearing aid battery doors and leave open next to phone (replacing batteries is a good idea) 7. Completely power off phone (wait for 1-2 minutes) 8. Power on phone (leave battery doors open) 9. Normal pairing process Troubleshooting Android Quickly

1. Delete from Bluetooth pairing 2. Uninstall ALL hearing aid Apps 3. Close all open Apps and program windows 4. Recommended but optional - Update phone software 5. Turn up volume on phone to over 60% 6. Delete ALL Bluetooth pairings 7. Open battery doors and leave open • (replacing batteries is a good idea) 8. Completely power off phone (wait 1-2 minutes) 9. Power on phone (leave battery doors open) 10. Normal pairing process Questions
