CCGs are groups of GPs, as well as other healthcare professionals, that are NHS Leeds South and East CCG is focused on improving the health and wellbeing responsible for designing local health services in England. We want to make sure that people in our area are able to live long and healthy lives in the future and our plans set out how we will do that. Over the next two years we will:

Improve the health of the whole population and reduce inequalities in our communities

Help more people to stop smoking

By investing in new ways to provide stop smoking support and increasing referrals to them, we will help more local people to stop smoking. We currently have the Leeds NHS Stop Smoking Service, which is free to anyone who wants to quit.

We use feedback from national reports like the Francis Report (www.midstaffspublicinquiry.com), patient surveys, complaints forms, Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) and online comments to help us identify areas for improvement.

Our medicines management team is committed to the effectiveness and safety of prescribed drugs and we take all incident reports very seriously.

Develop and maintain a healthy organisation to underpin the effective delivery of our strategy

Deliver innovative and evidence-based health services

We will help clinical professionals and local people to work and learn together about improving care. We’ll use information about what works well in other areas to help develop innovative services.

We’re contributing to the development of the Leeds Institute of Quality Healthcare (LIQH) with our partners. In the first year, our focus is on training in improvement techniques and applying them to services for cardiovascular disease, breathing disease and hip fracture.
