April, 2021 1 EDUCATION NEWS Sesame Street in Communities Trainings WXXI Education and our partners are hosting a series of Sesame Street in Communities trainings for local early childhood providers. WXXI and our partners are hosting a series of Sesame Street in Communities trainings to provide an overview of the website, resources available to support families and children, digital and hands-on activities, ways to integrate Sesame resources into current learning spaces, and an opportunity for early childhood providers to receive Sesame materials for their families. We will also provide an opportunity for participants to be connected with their local library for additional resources and programming available in their region. Certificates of Training/Professional Development Credits: All participants will receive a certificate of training showing their professional development; the certificate will show NYS CTLE and OCFS credits. WXXI Public Broadcasting Council and the CALL FOR Little Theatre are proud to sponsor the ENTRIES! Rochester Teen Film Festival, a collaborative, HEY TEENS! juried media competition for youth (13-18 years SUBMIT old) in the Rochester region. Submissions are YOUR FILMS open now through June 21st. Filmmakers can win the Philip Seymour Hoffman Award, which honors the late Academy Award-winning actor. The annual award goes to the teen whose film is chosen as “Best of Fest” and was established in association with the Hoffman family. The event showcasing the winning films will tentatively take place August 5 at 5:30 p.m. at Visit: The Little Theatre. https://wxxi.org/ With support from teenfilmfestival 2 Celebrate Earth Day 2021 with WXXI Education & Inventing Tomorrow Virtual Educator Training Join WXXI Education and Inventing Tomorrow for a free virtual training to support Science and STEM learning. The training will including new curricular materials from Inventing Tomorrow, and shared creative ways and resources to integrate environmental education and conservation projects into your learning space. Participating educators will receive free Science materials and 2 hrs of PD credit.
