2016 photos by Merrill Aldrich How to So what do you do when your wife is gone for the and didn’t have pay a cover charge weekend? I know what you’re thinking and you’re • People were great and knowledgeable about Have Fun right. How many car shows can I go to in four the cars that were there days? I started by checking the internet to see what North St. Paul History Cruze Car Show is an car events were happening that weekend. I found ongoing event every Friday night from June through When Your CarShowNationals.com which listed all of the car September. All cars must be 1975 or older to drive related events in the state and found that I could the Main Street - which is closed to all other traffic. Wife is take in four different events (and I stress the word The only thing that I have that would qualify is a different). They included: out of Town 1969 Triumph Bonneville, but motorcycles were not 1. Wheels of Italy Pazzaluna Under the Crazy allowed. for the Moon, Thursday, downtown St. Paul 2. 3. King of Diamonds Gentlemen’s Club Hottest

Car Show VII, Saturday, Inver Grove Heights

4. AutoLieben Motorsports Fest, Sunday, Afton Alps

by Andy Golfis Here are my observations:

Wheels of Italy has been around for maybe ten years • The crowd was good mix of young and old and usually has its main event late August or early families and old farts like me that came to find September at Lake Calhoun with anything that you and photograph the car they had, and wished can drive there that is Italian from Vespa scooters they had kept to one of a kind Ferrari’s. The Pazzaluna event was • Lots of cars, 200 maybe, mostly American a much smaller event in the heart of downtown St. steel Paul where they block off the street for Italian only • Lots of baseball caps and goatees (!) vehicles. I drove my 1981 Lancia Beta. • Lawn chairs lined the street to watch the new cars arrive and find a parking spot • Lots of State Fair food and a beer garden • Good Live music, two Tribute Bands • Lots of room to take photos • Older customs, original barn finds and original restorations

King of Diamonds Gentlemen’s Hottest Car Show VII is an annual fund-raiser event for Homes for our Troops. The event was held in the King of Diamonds • Up Scale Crowd parking lot. The variety of car, trucks and motorcycles • Too Crowded to get a photo of any car or was the most diverse of any of the events. I drove my motorcycle 997. There were two Porsches represented. • Restaurants were too busy to get anything to eat • Big is better, rims, wheels and speakers • Beer and wine was good • Loud is good too, sound system so big you • People watching was amazing, it was a the barely had room inside to fit a driver place to be seen in St. Paul, lots of beautiful • People watching was distracting, I did mention Trophy’s that it was at a gentlemen’s club event • Electric feel to the event, like you got in free • People were (very) friendly

Morrie’s Teen Defensive Driving Schools 2016

t’s hard to believe that Morrie’s Teen Defensive Driving School is kicking off its third season. To date nearly 200 teens have become safer drivers thanks to a program emphasizing accident avoidance and teaches real-life driving skills new drivers simply don’t learn in traditional driver’s education courses. This program provides an enormous service to the community. Response and participation has been incredibly Ipositive and for that reason demand far outweighs supply. Last year the program quickly sold out so interested individuals need to visit the registration page sooner than later! 2016 School Dates: Saturday, September 24, Saturday, October 22, Saturday, November 12 For 2016 the school will be held at Dunwoody College in Minneapolis. Gayle opts Porsche Enthusiast & Commercial Real Estate Expert for a comfy seating position while I make it to the bar at Siebken’s for some refreshment. Then back on the street to see some of the vehicles already there. Whatever you like, American, Euro, Asian, there’s plenty to see and it’s changing constantly with the people hitting town. I find a car identical to mine with some tasty mods and I start dreaming about the options for my car, a blank canvas, but what does it really need? Lots to consider? It’s already far more car than I ever thought I’d own, so call Sales Leasing Consulting Development me lucky. PORSCHE 997 The Essential Companion is very thoroughly illustrated (albeit in black and white). The section on power steering has separate illustrations of filler and dipstick locations for M95.05/ M97.01, M97.76 and MA1.02 engine families.
