The value Accepted 26 February 2015 of the coastal landscapes in Hong Kong was globally recognized when Hong Kong Global Geopark Available online 14 April 2015 (HKGG), which was developed under the well-established framework of Hong Kong Country Parks and Marine Parks, was accepted in the Global Geoparks Network (GGN) in 2011. With over 30 years of Keywords: experience gained from managing protected areas and a concerted effort to develop geoconservation and Coastal landscape geotourism, HKGG has reached a mature stage of development and can provide a well-developed Hong Kong Global Geopark Geodiversity example of successful geoconservation and geotourism in China. This paper analyzes the geodiversity, Geoconservation geoconservation and geotourism of HKGG. The main accomplishments summarized in this paper are Geotourism efficient conservation management, an optimized tourism infrastructure, a strong scientific interpretation system, mass promotion and education materials, active exchange with other geoparks, continuous training, and effective collaboration with local communities. -

For discussion PWSC(2021-22)5 on 21 April 2021 ITEM FOR PUBLIC WORKS SUBCOMMITTEE OF FINANCE COMMITTEE HEAD 705 – CIVIL ENGINEERING Transport – Ferry Piers 58TF – Improvement works at Kau Sai Village Pier 59TF – Improvement works at Lai Chi Chong Pier Members are invited to recommend to the Finance Committee – (a) the upgrading of 58TF to Category A at an estimated cost of $77.8 million in money-of-the-day (MOD) prices; and (b) the upgrading of 59TF to Category A at an estimated cost of $108.8 million in MOD prices. PROBLEM We need to carry out the following works – (a) 58TF for reconstruction of Kau Sai Village Pier to improve the berthing condition and facilities of the pier; and (b) 59TF for reconstruction of Lai Chi Chong Pier to improve the structural condition and facilities of the pier. /PROPOSAL ….. The Director of Civil Engineering and Development, with the support of the Secretary for Development, proposes to upgrade the following projects to Category A – (a) 58TF at an estimated cost of $77.8 million in MOD prices for the reconstruction of Kau Sai Village Pier; and (b) 59TF at an estimated cost of $108.8 million in MOD prices for the reconstruction of Lai Chi Chong Pier. PROJECT SCOPE 3. Details of the above two projects are provided at Enclosures 1 and 2 respectively. -------------------------------------- Development Bureau April 2021 Enclosure 1 to PWSC(2021-22)5 58TF – Improvement works at Kau Sai Village Pier PROJECT SCOPE We propose to upgrade 58TF to Category A and the scope of works comprises – (a) reconstruction of the existing pier, including provision of ancillary facilities such as roof cover, lighting system, benches, solar panels, Wi-Fi device, etc.; and (b) environmental monitoring and mitigation measures for the proposed works. -

When boarding for the first leg, the fare for the whole first leg would be deducted; when the passenger presents the same Octopus card again when alighting, the difference between the whole fare and the section fare will be reimbursed. Legislative Council Brief -- Unusual Ground Settlement in Tseung Kwan O
Ref. L/M(3) in WB(CR) 38/01/15(00) LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL BRIEF UNUSUAL GROUND SETTLEMENT IN TSEUNG KWAN O INTRODUCTION At the meeting of the Executive Council on 21 November 2000, the Council noted the investigation findings on the unusual ground settlement in Tseung Kwan O (TKO). BACKGROUND 2. Unusual ground settlement in the TKO reclamation was first reported in early 1999. A detailed investigation of the causes of the unusual settlement and its effect on existing buildings and other facilities has now been completed. 3. The extent of area affected by the unusual settlement, comprising mainly Tiu Keng Leng, TKO town centre, TKO Area 86 and the TKO Industrial Estate (TKOIE), is shown in Figure 1 at Annex A. The locations of existing residential buildings (in three zones) at the affected town centre are shown in Figure 2 at Annex B. MAGNITUDE OF SETTLEMENT AND LATEST STATUS 4. The magnitude of settlement varies in different areas. At Tiu Keng Leng and the part of town centre to the north of Tong Ming Street, the settlement was very small being in the range of only 70 to 80 mm measured since early 1999. Further south of the town centre between Tong Ming Street and Tong Tak Street, this settlement measured since early 1999 ranged from 150 to 270 mm. In other areas of TKO reclamation, including Area 86 and TKOIE, the settlement ranged from 50 to about 800 mm. 1 5. In almost all the areas, the highest rate of settlement (approximately 40 mm per month at the town centre and up to 160 mm per month for part of other areas) was recorded in the first six to nine months of 1999.
