DEMAND Demand for office space has shifted away from the CBD area with a focus on emerging commercial districts as the city moves in a westerly direction. Occupiers are increasingly considering staff commuting times and providing convenience and connectivity to their client base which has seen a surge in demand for areas including Bausher, Azaiba, Ghala, Airport Heights, and Mwallah. Office occupiers are increasingly motivated by cost savings, flexibility and parking when acquiring new office premises. Properties that offer partially or fully fitted traditional open plan office space with generous parking are more favorable to interest based on the heavily reduced initial fit out CAPEX. Demand for business centre operators has increased sharply based on the low set up costs and flexible short-term leasing structures available to occupiers. SUPPLY Office development in Muscat has been relatively active over the past 5 years and a new standard of office quality is available within the market in buildings such as the Waterfront, Salam Square, Beach One and the Ominvest Business Centre, all which have performed well. Although the company has, since its foundation, pursued a policy of laying down the infrastructure, which can serve as a foundation for transforming waste management in the country; it only took over the management of the healthcare waste sector on January 1, 2012, after the administration of the sector has been transferred from the Ministry of Health to be’ah.

JICA selected and dispatched a study team headed by Dr. Hani Abdel-Halim at Katahira & Engineers International from January 2004 to February 2005. The team held discussions with the engineers at Directorate General of Roads, Ministry of Transport and Communications, as well as other officials concerned, and conducted field surveys, data analysis, Master Plan formulation and Feasibility Study. Upon returning to Japan, the team prepared this final report to summarize the result of the study. I hope that this report will contribute to the enhancement of friendly relationship between our two countries. Alongside this background, this study assesses the aware- ness and quality of knowledge regarding climate change in Muscat governorate, Oman. A survey of 350 randomly sampled respondents was conducted using a standard questionnaire. A structured questionnaire was used for data collection. This questionnaire was administered to respondents who were evenly distributed among the six divisions (Wilayat) of Muscat governorate in Oman while descriptive statistics were the main analysis techniques. Results have revealed that public awareness is fairly high despite some limitations on the knowledge on the causes and prevention of climate change. Regression analysis finds that gender, years of education, and income are sig- nificant factors that determine the level of awareness. Climate change is an area that is in need of publicity to help the public make informed decisions in its adaptation and mitigation. Results fur- ther indicate that most of the respondents have fair general knowledge about the subject.
