The Pomeranian Agency for Regional Development, based in Słupsk, has been managing the zone since 1997. Słupsk Special Economic Zone covers lands with a total area of 816.7878 ha, located in the following cities: Słupsk, Ustka, Koszalin, Szczecinek and Wałcz and the municipalities: Biesiekierz, Debrzno, Kalisz Pomorski, Karlino, Polanów, Słupsk and Tychowo. 5 Pomeranian Voivodeship Local subsuppliers Metal industry Biotechnology Building industry Maritime Food sector economy Wood processing sector Electronic sector Packaging sector 6 Pomeranian Voivodeship Infrastructure Gdańsk-Rębiechowo Airport - the international airport is a backup airport for the Warsaw Chopin Airport Gdynia-Kosakowo Airport – military airport Pruszcz Gdański Airport – military airport Słupsk-Krępa Airport – recreational airport Pomeranian Voivodeship – high potential for the development of road transport The capital of the region is Gdańsk – a city that together with Gdynia and Sopot forms the Tricity agglomeration. Gdańsk has almost half a million inhabitants, and the entire Tricity has nearly 800,000. The most important Pomeranian roads, in addition to the A1 motorway, are S6 and S7 expressways as well as national roads no. 6, 7, 20, 21, 22, 25, 55, 90, 91. The railway network in the voivodeship is undergoing constant modernization The railway line 201 from Gdynia through Kościerzyna to Maksymilianów is the main railway line of the voivodeship. The works related to the construction of the second track and electrification will start already in 2020. One of the key projects of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe is the modernization of the thoroughfare between Bydgoszcz and the Tricity. The project will lead to the increase in the speed of freight trains to 100 km/h, and passenger trains to 140 km/h. The investment will create a new corridor to the port of Gdynia, which will allow the redirection of freight traffic without taking into account the Tricity Railway Hub burdened with passenger traffic. 7 Pomeranian Voivodeship Higher Education Private universities Public universities 8 Strenghts (based on the voivodeship's strategy) The Tricity Metropolitan Area as a one of the development centers of Poland and the Baltic Sea Region and an increasingly important international transport and logistics hub High economic activity of the inhabitants and export-oriented Pomeranian companies Relatively high level of social capital and strong sense of identity of local communities A good market position of the regional specialization industries, including those related to the coastal location Stable and relatively high birth rate and positive migration balance Favorable natural conditions for the development of energy industry, including renewable energy industry 9 Pomeranian Voivodeship Tourist attractions 2 Gdynia Sopot 3 ➢ Kosciuszko Square ➢ Lightghouse ➢ ORP Błyskawica ➢ Pier ➢ Manor and park complex in ➢ Monte Cassino Orłowo ➢ Forest Opera ➢ Abraham's house 1 1 Gdańsk Lębork ➢ Długa Street and Długi Fair ➢ Teutonic Castle ➢ Main Town Hall ➢ Ivy Tower ➢ Artus Court ➢ Church of St. James ➢ The Golden Tenement House ➢ Granary Salt ➢ The Fountain of Neptune 10 Polish Investment and Trade Agency ul. • Development Prospects of Tourist Passenger Shipping in the Polish Part of the Vistula Lagoon
sustainability Article Development Prospects of Tourist Passenger Shipping in the Polish Part of the Vistula Lagoon Krystian Puzdrakiewicz * and Marcin Połom * Division of Regional Development, Faculty of Oceanography and Geography, University of Gda´nsk, 80-309 Gda´nsk,Poland * Correspondence: [email protected] (K.P.); [email protected] (M.P.) Abstract: The Vistula Lagoon is a cross-border area with high natural values and a developing market of tourist services. Passenger shipping is an important part of local tourism, but ship owners are insufficiently involved in planning processes and their views on creating shipping development are underrepresented. The article aims to compare the vision of the development of passenger shipping in the Polish part of the Vistula Lagoon between local governments creating the spatial policy and ship owners offering transport services. We have made an attempt to verify the development prospects. The collation of these visions was based primarily on the qualitative analysis of the content of planning and strategic documents (desk research method) and a survey conducted among all six ship owners. Thanks to the comparative analysis, it was possible to show similarities and differences and to indicate recommendations. The paper presents review of the available literature on the subject, thanks to which the research area was identified as unique in Europe. On the one hand, it is a valuable natural area, which is an important tourist destination, on the other hand, there are organizational and infrastructural limitations in meeting the needs of tourists. Then, field research was conducted, unpublished materials were collected, and surveys were conducted with the Citation: Puzdrakiewicz, K.; Połom, M.

The threat to the resources part of the groundwater intake Wydrzany approach results from the progressive concentration of chloride ion, mainly in the southern part of the intake and locally in the central part of the water intake. After the launch of the intake at the end of the 1970s, the development of the water table depression, currently reaching the shore of the Lagoon, caused the frontal infiltration of the brackish waters of the Szczecin Lagoon into aquifers and a small amount of brine ascesion from the mesozoic strata. To determine the genesis of salinity, isotopic tests were carried out, including 37Cl chlorine isotopes. Water for the Szczecin Lagoon and groundwater, including the aquifer of the Cretceous, have been sampled. GEOLOGICAL AND HYDROGEOLOGICAL OUTLINE The studied area of research is located in the western part of the Polish Baltic coast, in the the town of Świnoujście, West Pomeranian Voivodeship (fig. 1). There are two morphological forms in the landscape of this island. These are contrasting flat delta areas, being part of the so-called "Swina's Gates" and a varied ordinate of the upland of this island.

The development of peripheral areas: The case of West Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland Martin KEBZA a * Abstract The process of peripheralisation of outlying areas is discussed in this article using a case study of West Pomeranian (Zachodniopomorskie) Voivodeship in Poland. Emphasis is placed on the relationship between these peripheral areas and metropolitan core areas. Scalar and vector data on selected indicators in the years 2005 and 2015 for gminas (communes, territorial units NUTS 5) are presented. The values for both years were observed as well as the change between them. A composite indicator based on the calculated data was developed, and it served as the basis for categorisation of metropolitan, 'semi-peripheral' and peripheral areas, which were further defined on the basis of their intrinsic properties and location in the region. The development of such peripheral areas is assessed more generally in the conclusions. • Recreational Space Valorisation in Western Pomerania District
Eliza Kalbarczyk, Robert Kalbarczyk Recreational space valorisation in Western Pomerania district Acta Scientiarum Polonorum. Administratio Locorum 6/3, 59-73 2007 Acta Sci. Pol., Administratio Locorum 6(3) 2007, 59-73 RECREATIONAL SPACE VALORISATION IN WESTERN POMERANIA DISTRICT Eliza Kalbarczyk, Robert Kalbarczyk Agricultural University in Szczecin Abstract. The paper has been aimed at finding agrotourism development opportunities in particular municipalities of Western Pomerania district. A Drzewiecki’s method, comprising seven criteria scale for agro tourism attractiveness for each municipality, was used to valorise recreational space in there. According to Drzewiecki a rural or urbanrural municipality can be regarded as a rural recreational space only if three, out of seven criteria, are met. In case of Western Pomerania region, municipalities happen to meet the criteria of agrotourism attractiveness mainly due to small population density (89% of municipalities), high individual agriculture rate (52% of municipalities), and last but not least, high forest to overall area rate (47% of municipalities). Specifically, 41 municipalities shall be regarded as country recreational space since they meet at least three, out of the seven concerned, criteria. Country recreational space in the Western Pomerania district amounts to 10 700 km2 (47% of the total district area), which is inhabited by 206 000 people (12% of the district population). The area does not provide a compact space, though the agrotourism oriented municipalities tend to conglomerate in Drawskie Lakeland (namely Drawsko, Łobez, and Szczecinek counties), as well as in Goleniów county. Four criteria (maximum) are met, however, only by 14 municipalities of Western Pomerania (zachodniopomorskie) District, most frequently in Drawsko, Goleniów, and Stargard Szczeciński counties.
