New Delhi: Mukesh Kumar Kejariwal and Harikishan Sharma of Dainik Jagran; Pavithra S Rangan of Outlook magazine; Sandip Das of The Financial Express; Rakhi Ghosh, a freelance journalist and Atul Kumar Singh of Hindustan have been awarded the Government of India and UNDP Media Fellowships on Decentralized Planning – 2015. The media Fellowship is awarded annually for journalists to work in Madhya Pradesh and Odisha. The announcement was made today in New Delhi by an eminent jury comprising B.K Kuthiala, Vice Chancellor, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Communication; Mrinal Chatterjee, Head, Indian Institute of Mass Communication (Dhenkanal); K.S. Sachidananda, Resident Editor, Malayala Manorama and The Week; Nidhi Razdan, Senior Editor, NDTV; Indu Patnaik, Joint Adviser (MLP), NITI Aayog; Radhika Kaul Batra, UN Coordination Advisor; and Rajiv Tikoo, Director, OneWorld Foundation India. Out of the six fellows, Kejariwal, Sharma and Rangan have been selected to work in Madhya Pradesh, and Das, Ghosh and Singh are expected to work in Odisha. The working languages will be English, Hindi and Odia. The six selected Fellows will each receive a stipend of INR 150,000 plus expenses to publish news or feature stories and analytical pieces on decentralized planning over a sixmonth period. Decentralized planning and implementation is widely regarded as a powerful tool to address challenges such as poor service delivery, social exclusion and disparities across varied geographical areas and communities. Congratulating the winners, Jaco Cilliers, Resident Representative and Country Director, United Nations Development Programme, said, “The Government of India and UNDP Media Fellowships on Decentralization announced today recognise the crucial role of the media in reporting on development issues and decentralization. Adept in Cinematography, writing lyrics, novels and scripts for Dramas, she also has a natural flair for creativity and social service. Though she faced innumerable odds and misfortunes in her personal life, she never felt bogged down, but rather played all her roles valiantly and extremely well---- as a mother, a cancer survivor, an educationist, a creative artist and above all, as a great fighter. NDTV FINANCIAL RESULTS: Q3, FY 09-10 - Successful restructuring of the Group - Acquisition of NBCU’s indirect stake of 26% in the subsidiary, NDTV Networks PLC - Repurchase of the US$ 100 Million Step up Coupon Bonds due 2012 for a negotiated price of US$ 72.4 Million - Crucial stake sale agreement with Time Warner for NDTV Imagine Ltd - Sale of majority stake in NDTV Lifestyle ltd to Scripps - Major Cost efficiencies lead to substantial improvement in operating results Result Highlights (NDTV Standalone) For the quarter ending December 31st , 2009 NDTV’s revenues from operations for Q3 FY‘10 were at Rs 84.98 crores as compared to Rs 82.46 crores for the same quarter of the previous year. EBIT DA has greatly improved from a negative of Rs 4.54 crores in the same quarter, previous year, to a positive of Rs 9.8 crores in the current quarter. Improved efficiency in operations has resulted in the company containing its net losses to Rs 1.66 crores compared to a net loss of Rs 17.48 crores for the same quarter of the previous year. Operating expenditure for Q3, FY 10 has come down by as much as 13.10 % from Rs 87.13 crores in the same quarter previous year to Rs 75.71 crores for the current quarter. Result Highlights (NDTV Consolidated) NDTV’s consolidated income f rom operations for Q3, FY10 at Rs 167.06 crores was 28.78 % higher compared to Rs 129.72 crores for Q3, FY 09. Increase in income & significant cost savings resulted in positive EBIT DA for Q3, at Rs 86.18 crores compared to a negative EBIT DA of Rs 93.78 crores for Q3, FY 09.

So also are the other vulnerable sections that suffer multi-layered abuse, and endure sexual harassment in social media. Yet, this phenomenon is insufficiently explored. Therefore, this article argues that social media spaces have become domains for sexual harassment and subjugation of women. This article examines gender-trolling on Twitter as a form of sexual violence against women. Employing qualitative analyses of the Twitter conversations on Indian journalists, namely Barkha Dutt, Sagarika Ghose, and Rana Ayyub, it exposes the nature and form of sexual violence against women on the micro-blogging space, and argues that social media platforms constitute convenient havens of harassment against assertive women Keywords: Twitter, social media, women journalists, sexual harassment, misogyny In last two decades, the Internet has evolved as a platform for people to express themselves freely. Since the advent of Web 2.0, the Internet has given birth to many a social media platform like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and blogs. Kuldip Nayar took to journalism early in life and excelled as a political commentator, columnist, author and human rights activist. His career as a journalist spans over six decades, focusing extensively on national and international affairs, his writings often sprinkled with insightful personal anecdotes. Kuldip Nayar served as the editor of prominent national newspapers for more than 20 years. He was editor of United News of India (1964-1967), Statesman (1967- 1975) and Express News Service (1975-1981). He served as Government Information Officer to Govind Ballabh Pant and Lal Bahadur Shastri. He was arrested during the Emergency years (1975-77) for voicing his dissent at the suppression of press. Kuldip Nayar served as the High commissioner of India to the United Kingdom (March 1990-November 1990) and was a member of India's delegation to the United Nations in 1996. He was a nominated member of the Rajya Sabha (1997-2002). Besides this, an unhealthy trend of ‘gendered’ journalism is emerging, wherein only ‘gendered’ or feminine news is assigned to female journalists. The current paper endeavors to find out if this trend of sharp disparity in the numbers and role of male and female journalists exist in the Kashmir- based press as well. It analyses hard and soft news stories published by leading regional English dailies. The analysis has been made in terms of various parameters like the ratio of male reporters to female reporters, beats assigned to women journalists, type and frequency of stories covered by them, and priorities of women journalists in terms of issues highlighted. The major purpose of the paper is to bring to fore what appears to be the culture of gender disparity in the regional press. It has undergone drastic changes both in its meaning and practice.
