Fort Kyk-over-al: The ruins of Fort Kyk-Over-Al are located on a small island at the Mazaruni and Cuyuni Rivers' confluence, about 47 miles southwest of Georgetown.

Fort Nassau: The remains of Fort Nassau are located approximately 55 miles from the mouth of the right bank of the River and borders the Torani Creek.

These forts were built by the Dutch.
