TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT NOTICE Special Traffic and Transport TRANSPORT DEPARTMENT NOTICE Special Traffic and Transport Arrangements for the Celebration Events for the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of the HKSAR and the Flag Raising Ceremony to be held in Wan Chai District from 29 June 2017 to 1 July 2017 Notice is hereby given that the following traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented on Hong Kong Island during the period as specified below to facilitate the celebration events for the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR and the flag raising ceremony to be held in Wan Chai District from 29 June 2017 to 1 July 2017: I. Special Traffic Arrangements A. Road Closure (see Figure 1) (i) The following roads will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic from about 8.00 pm on 28 June 2017 to 12.00 noon on 1 July 2017 or until road closure is lifted: (a) The slip road leading from Harcourt Road eastbound to Performing Arts Avenue northbound; (b) Lung King Street; (c) All lay-bys on Lung Wui Road westbound; (d) All lay-bys on Lung Wo Road; and (e) The general pick-up/ drop-off and loading/ unloading area on Lung Wo Road north of Star Ferry Multi-Storey Car Park. (ii) The following roads will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic from about 12.01 am on 29 June 2017 to 12.00 noon on 1 July 2017 or until road closure is lifted: (a) Expo Drive; (b) Expo Drive East; (c) Expo Drive Central; (d) Road P2; (e) The section of Convention Avenue between Fenwick Pier Street and Expo Drive; (f) The section of Convention Avenue eastbound between Fleming Road and Tonnochy Road; (g) The section of Fleming Road northbound between Harbour Road and Convention Avenue; and (h) The section of Harbour Road between Fenwick Pier Street and Fleming Road will be intermittently closed. (iii) Stadium Path will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic from about 12.01 am on 30 June 2017 to 12.00 noon on 1 July 2017 or until road closure is lifted; and (iv) The section of Convention Avenue westbound between Fleming Road and Tonnochy Road, and the section of Fleming Road southbound between Convention Avenue and Harbour Road will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic from 1 about 6.00 am to 12.00 noon on 1 July 2017 or until road closure is lifted. B. Traffic Diversion (i) The following traffic diversion will be implemented from about 12.01 am on 29 June 2017 to 12.00 noon on 1 July 2017 or until road closure is lifted: (a) Traffic along Fenwick Pier Street eastbound will be prohibited from entering Convention Avenue eastbound, and will be diverted via Harbour Road eastbound; (b) Traffic along Fleming Road northbound must turn left onto Harbour Road westbound or turn right onto Harbour Road eastbound; (c) Traffic along Fleming Road flyover northbound must turn right onto Harbour Road eastbound; and (d) Traffic along Harbour Road westbound will be permitted to turn right onto the entrances of Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) and the Grand Hyatt Hong Kong, and the traffic from the exit of HKCEC will be permitted to turn right onto Harbour Road westbound. (ii) The following traffic diversion will be implemented from about 6.00 am to 12.00 noon on 1 July 2017 or until road closure is lifted: (a) Traffic along Hung Hing Road westbound must turn left onto Tonnochy Road southbound; and (b) Traffic along Tonnochy Road northbound must turn right onto Hung Hing Road eastbound. C. Temporary Restricted Zones The following road sections will be temporarily designated as restricted zones 24 hours daily from 12:01 am on 29 June 2017 to 11.59 pm on 1 July 2017: (i) the southern kerbside lane of Gloucester Road service road from a point about 10 metres east of its junction with Fenwick Street to a point about 65 metres east of the same junction; (ii) the southern kerbside lane of Gloucester Road service road from a point about 35 metres west of its junction with Fleming Road to a point about 90 metres west of the same junction; (iii) the southern kerbside lane of Gloucester Road service road from a point about 35 metres east of its junction with Fleming Road to a point about 65 metres east of the same junction; (iv) the southern kerbside lane of Gloucester Road service road from a point about 70 metres west of its junction with Stewart Road to a point about 100 metres west of the same junction; (v) the southern kerbside lane of Gloucester Road service road from a point about 10 metres west of its junction with Tonnochy Road to a point about 75 metres west of the same junction; (vi) the eastern kerbside lane of Stewart Road from its junction with Jaffe Road to a point about 35 metres north of the same junction; (vii) the western kerbside lane of Tonnochy Road from its junction with Jaffe Road to a point about 25 metres north of the same junction; and (viii) the southern kerbside lane of Lockhart Road from a point about 25 metres east of 2 its junction with Fleming Road to a point about 40 metres east of the same junction. II. Special Public Transport Arrangements A. Suspension of Bus Termini (i) The bus terminus on Expo Drive East will be suspended from about 12.01 am on 29 June 2017 to 11.59 pm on 1 July 2017 or until road closure is lifted; and (ii) The Wan Chai North Temporary Public Transport Interchange will be suspended from about 1.00 am on 29 June 2017 to 11.59 pm on 1 July 2017 or until road closure is lifted. B. Bus Diversion (i) XHT route no. 961 will omit Expo Drive East, terminate at and depart from the Wan Chai North Temporary Public Transport Interchange from about 12.01 am to 12.30 am on 29 June 2017; and (ii) The following bus routes will be diverted by phases from about 12.01 am on 29 June 2017 to 2.00 pm on 1 July 2017, or until road closure is lifted: Routes Direction Diversion Details CTB 5B To Causeway Bay / will be converted to circular service and the terminus at Eastern Hospital Road Kennedy Town outside Hong Kong Stadium will be converted as a pick-up/ drop-off stop. CTB 25A To Wan Chai via Hennessy Road westbound, Johnston Road eastbound and terminates at Johnston Road eastbound outside Methodist House. CTB 25A To Wan Chai departs from Johnston Road eastbound outside Methodist House, via Johnston Road eastbound, Fleming Road northbound and Hennessy Road eastbound. CTB 40 To Wan Chai / Wah will be converted to circular service: via Hennessy Road eastbound, Fenwick Fu Street southbound, Johnston Road eastbound, Fleming Road northbound and Hennessy Road westbound. CTB 40M To Admiralty / Wah will be converted to circular service: via Hennessy Road eastbound, Luard Road Fu northbound, Gloucester Road service road westbound, Gloucester Road westbound and Harcourt Road westbound. 3 Routes Direction Diversion Details CTB 780 and 788 To Eastern district / via Gloucester Road eastbound, Fleming Road northbound, Harbour Road NWFB 720 and Kowloon eastbound, Tonnochy Road northbound 722 and Hung Hing Road eastbound. XHT 104 and 641 NWFB 2A, 2X, To Wan Chai truncate at Hennessy Road westbound outside Hennessy Road Government 8, 8P and N8 Primary School. NWFB 2A, 2X, To Eastern district depart from Hennessy Road eastbound near Stewart Road. 8, 8P and N8 NWFB 15B To Wan Chai via Causeway Road eastbound, Hing Fat Street and terminates at Tin Hau Station Public Transport Interchange. NWFB 15B To the Peak departs from Tin Hau Station Public Transport Interchange, via King’s Road eastbound, Ngan Mok Street, Lau Li Street and King’s Road westbound. NWFB 18 and To Sheung Wan / via Gloucester Road westbound and Harcourt Road westbound. 18P Kennedy Town NWFB H1 To Tsim Sha Tsui via Harcourt Road eastbound, Gloucester Road eastbound and Cross Harbour (Day route) Tunnel. NWFB H1 To Tsim Sha Tsui via Lung Wo Road eastbound, Gloucester Road eastbound and Cross Harbour (Night route) Tunnel. NWFB N8P To Wan Chai / Siu via Gloucester Road westbound, Gloucester Road service road westbound, Sai Wan Fenwick Street southbound and Hennessy Road eastbound. XHT 307C, To Wan Chai truncate at Hennessy Road eastbound near Fleming Road. 960P, 960S and 961P XHT 621 To Central via Gloucester Road westbound, Gloucester Road service road westbound, Fenwick Street southbound and Hennessy Road westbound. 4 Routes Direction Diversion Details XHT 905 To Wan Chai via Harcourt Road eastbound, Cotton Tree Drive, Queensway eastbound, Tamar Street, Drake Street and terminates at Admiralty (West) Bus Terminus. XHT 905 To Lai Chi Kok departs from Admiralty (West) Bus Terminus, via Cotton Tree Drive, Queensway eastbound, Tamar Street, Harcourt Road westbound, Cotton Tree Drive flyover and Des Voeux Road Central westbound. XHT 905P, 978A To Wan Chai via Harcourt Road eastbound, Gloucester Road eastbound and truncate at Gloucester and 978B Road eastbound outside Immigration Tower. It has been observed that existing translation studies literature appears to cater mainly for long texts. This suggests that there may be a literature gap with regard to short text translation. Investigating how short texts are translated would reveal whether mainstream translation theories and strategies are also applicable to such texts. Therefore, the objectives of the paper are two-fold. Firstly, it seeks to confirm whether there is in fact a gap in the existing literature on short texts by reviewing corpuses of leading works in translation studies. Secondly, it investigates how short texts have been translated by examining the translation theories and strategies used. This is done by way of a case study on street names in Hong Kong. The case study also seeks to remedy the possible paucity of translation literature on short texts by building an objective and representative database to function as an effective platform for examining how street names have been translated. Data, including street names in English and Chinese, are collected by way of systematic sampling from the entire data population.

    REVIEW OF OPERATIONS (1) LAND BANK Total land bank of 17 As at 30th June 2002, the land bank of Sino Group increased to million square feet 17 million square feet from 15 million square feet in the previous financial year due to new site acquisitions mainly for residential development. The Group’s land bank comprises a well-diversified portfolio of properties: residential (39%), commercial (34%), industrial (14%), car parks (9%) and hotels (4%). Most of the residential developments currently under construction are located in popular locations throughout the territory and are conveniently served by various modes of transportation including railway and subway lines. Sports, recreational and entertainment facilities are also available in the clubhouses. During the financial year, the Group acquired 7 plots of land located in fast growing new towns in Hong Kong and a 19% interest in a commercial project in Shanghai thereby increasing the land bank by about 2.6 million square feet of attributable gross floor area. The Group’s commercial buildings and car parks are mainly held for long-term investment, generating a stable stream of recurrent income for the Group. The following table shows the breakdown of the Group’s land bank as at 30th June, 2002. Background 2. The MTRCL is committed to providing safe, reliable and smooth railway service for over 5 million passenger trips per day. The public demand and expectation over the MTRCL as the major transport operator has been on the rise over the years. To maintain quality railway service, the MTRCL invests billions of dollars1 annually in enhancing, revitalising and maintaining its railway assets and infrastructure, including enhancing the facilities at the 93 stations under the current railway network. 3. In enhancing our station facilities, the MTRCL attaches great importance to the views of passengers and stakeholders in the community. We also strive to overcome the constraints at each station caused by its unique features, history, construction parameters, and usable areas. In our endeavour for continuous improvement by learning from past experience, the MTRCL seeks to improve the design and planning for future stations to give more convenience to passengers. 4. The ensuing paragraphs highlight the key improvement works carried out at our stations. 1 The MTRCL invested over 6 billion dollars in 2014 in enhancing, revitalising and maintaining its railway assets and infrastructure. This investment has increased significantly per year to over 8 billion dollars in 2016, which accounts for more than 40% of the 17.7. billion dollars revenue from the Corporation’s Hong Kong transport operations.
