Thank you for applying to Georgian College, Owen Sound Campus.

Owen Sound is 190 km Northwest of Toronto, a 2.5-hour commute by car, one way. Many international students chose Owen Sound because they want to experience a true Canadian community and a highly personalized educational experience.

Located on Georgian Bay, right below the Niagara Escarpment, the historic port of Owen Sound features beautiful waterways, parks and miles of beaches. It is also the largest urban centre in the region with a vibrant down-town and several small businesses.

Georgian College Owen Sound Campus has all the amenities needed for your educational success. In addition, there are two residences within 5 minutes walking distance to the college, groceries, shopping mall, and a hospital. There are apartment rentals and in home rooms available for our International students. The average price is CDN $500 per student per month. Once you obtain your visa, we will assist you in your search for housing. Owen Sound’s public transit system is available across the city and most buses stop near the campus.

Co-op/workterm programs (if applicable to your program selection):

 College consultants will assist you with preparing for co-op/workterm opportunities and will provide you with a list of employers, but it is the responsibility of the student to contact the employer, go for an interview, and secure the co-op/workterm placement.  If you are registered in a program with a co-op or workterm you may be required to travel and/or move to the location of the placement for 4 months. This might be anywhere in Ontario. You may want to obtain a valid driver’s license for traveling.  If you are registered in a program with a co-op/workterm, do not sign a long term rental agreement for housing when you arrive in Owen Sound  If you do not secure a co-op/workterm placement during the timeframe scheduled in your program of study, you will be required to take it later in the program; this will delay your academic studies and your graduation date.

As an International student applying to Georgian College, Owen Sound campus, please understand that a seat will be reserved for you in the chosen program, therefore you must commit to continuing in the program at the Owen Sound Campus until graduation.
