Hello Georgian Bay Community Members, for the 2020-2021 Swim Hello Georgian Bay Community Members, For the 2020-2021 swim season the Collingwood Clippers Swim Club is reaching out to local businesses and organizations to gain sponsorships, that will ensure our ability to continue providing our local youth with the opportunity to pursue competitive and recreational swimming excellence during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since the beginning of the pandemic, our Club has encountered setbacks, but we are excited to say that we are in the process of bouncing back and we are looking for support from our community to continue on stronger than ever. The Collingwood Clippers Swim Club (formerly Collingwood Y Clippers) have been teaching and coaching competitive swimming to the youth of Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Blue Mountain and surrounding areas since 1985. The Club started as an entry level developmental swim program and has subsequently evolved into a strong, competitive Swim Club. In recent years, CCSC has continued to produce competitive swimmers that excel at the Regional, Provincial, National and International levels of competition, winning medals and placing within the top 8 at competitions. We have been extremely effective in developing our swimmers and breaking club records. Over the past 3 season our swimmers have broken 28 female short course club records, 43 male short course club records, 33 female long course club records and 40 male long course club records for a grand total of 144 club records! Please see below for some of our Swim Meet and Championship highlight achievements over the past two seasons. • 2019 Eastern Canadian Championships - CCSC had 3 swimmers compete at 2019 Eastern Canadian Championships (Canadian National level swim meet) in Quebec City, QC. This was the most swimmers CCSC had ever had compete at a single Eastern Canadian Championships. • 2019 TYR Summer Senior Championships - 6 CCSC swimmers competed at the 2019 TYR Summer Senior Championships in St. Petersburg, Florida. Over 800 swimmers competed at this international event and each CCSC swimmer made finals in at least 1 event. • 2019 Canadian Junior Championships - CCSC had 1 swimmer represent the club in Calgary, AB. This swimmer made an “A” final (top 8 finish) in the 200-meter backstroke. This competition is a high-end Canadian National level swim meet. • 2019 Barrie Trojan Cup - At this Invitational our 13 & Over swimmers won the grand prize; The Trojan Cup. This win was made possible by the amount of points scored per event based on the number of swimmers representing the club. Think of it as quality over quantity. • 2020 Huronia Short Course Championships - 29 CCSC swimmers qualified and competed at the 2019 Huronia Short Course Regional Championships in Owen Sound, ON. 27 of the 29 swimmers placed in the top 8 of at least 1 of their events. As a club we won 22 Gold Medals, 18 Silver Medals and 22 Bronze Medals. • 2020 Winter Festival Championships - CCSC was proudly represented by 7 swimmers during this Provincial level meet held in Windsor, ON (13 & Under Provincial Championships). In total, the swimmers won 3 Gold Medals, 1 Bronze Medal, 2 – 4th place finishes, 1 – 5th place finish, 2 – 7th place finishes and 2 – 8th place finishes. • 2020 Winter Ontario Swimming Championships (Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre) & Ontario Youth Junior Championships (Markham Pan Am Sports Centre) - CCSC had a total of 5 swimmers compete and represent CCSC over the 4-day Provincial Championship swim meets. The swimmers competing at the Provincial level Championships achieved 1 Gold Medal, 1 Silver Medal and 3 Bronze Medals.     McQUARRIE, JESSIE MARY Jessie McQuarrie of Collingwood, and formerly of Thornbury and Meaford, passed away suddenly at Cedar Rail Campground in Chesley on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the age of 76. Born on September 5, 1941, in Poplar Grove, Saskatchewan, Jessie was a daughter of the late Edwin and Joanna (nee Mac Fayden) Heal. Jessie was the cherished wife of Bob Howell of Collingwood. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Ben McQuarrie in 2006. Jessie was the much loved mother of Lorie Lynn Green (Rob Howell) of Wasaga Beach, Jim McQuarrie (Sue) of Meaford, and Richard McQuarrie (Darlene) of Meaford. She was the wonderful grandma of Victoria, Joey, Aaron, Chris, Jeremy, Amanda, Shasta, Jodi, Jessica, Chadwick, and great grandma to twelve. Jessie was the dear sister of Joan Hutton (Terry), Ken Heal (MaryAnne), Doug Heal (Cathy), and Dale Heal. She was predeceased by her grandson Justin, her daughter-in-law Debbie and her brother-in-law John. Jessie will be remembered fondly by her many nieces, nephews and their families. A graveside service will be conducted at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 12 noon. A Celebration of Jessie’s life will follow from 1 until 4 p.m., at Riverside Hall, 7th Line, in Meaford, ON. Executive Summary This item provides an update on the Simcoe County Linx and Linx Plus Transit service before COVID-19, adaptations made during the pandemic, and the outlook moving forward. Simcoe County LINX transit service began operation in September 2018. The current conventional transit service operates along four corridors: • Route 1 – Barrie to Midland /Penetanguishene • Route 2 – Barrie to Wasaga Beach • Route 3 – Barrie – Oro-Medonte – Orillia • Route 4 – Wasaga Beach to Collingwood Route 5, Alliston to Bradford will begin on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 with free service for the first month. Fare service will commence on Route 5 in September 2020. Route 6 Penetanguishene/ Midland – Tay – Severn – Oro-Medonte – Orillia will have a later start date of early fall due to the delay of bus deliveries as a result of COVID-19. Transit service levels have been reduced as ridership has decreased due to COVID –19. Transit staff will continue to monitor COVID-19 ridership levels and plan for reintroduction of service hours as required. Based on average ridership numbers and average fares seen prior to March 23 it is estimated that approximately $133K in fare revenues have been foregone (waived) between March 23 and the end of June. Transit service reductions began in April and savings are estimated to total approximately $214K.

The company will take over operations of Georgian Downs and Casino Rama this summer, while also starting the process of determining the location of a gaming facility in either Collingwood or Wasaga Beach. Gateway’s Ontario spokesperson Rob Mitchell said the company’s current focus will be on the transition for employees at Georgian Downs and Casino Rama, before it can establish a timeline for what might happen in Collingwood or Wasaga Beach. Waugh and CA ED "Whereas the Province of Ontario is providing the Town of South Bruce Peninsula with a Community Reinvestment Fund (CRF) allocation. And Whereas a major component of this CRF allocation is understood to be an amount allocated to offset OPP expenditures. And Whereas a significant portion of our OPP policing costs relate to expenses incurred by providing policing to a significant number of tourists, many of which are from various parts of the Province of Ontario, And Whereas the CRF was initially set up to address relative imbalances in municipally funded responsibilities, And Whereas it is critical to the level of taxation in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula that the present level of funding from the Province for OPP expenditures be maintained.
