McQUARRIE, JESSIE MARY

Jessie McQuarrie of Collingwood, and formerly of Thornbury and Meaford, passed away suddenly at Cedar Rail Campground in Chesley on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the age of 76. Born on September 5, 1941, in Poplar Grove, Saskatchewan, Jessie was a daughter of the late Edwin and Joanna (nee Mac Fayden) Heal. Jessie was the cherished wife of Bob Howell of Collingwood. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Ben McQuarrie in 2006. Jessie was the much loved mother of Lorie Lynn Green (Rob Howell) of Wasaga Beach, Jim McQuarrie (Sue) of Meaford, and Richard McQuarrie (Darlene) of Meaford. She was the wonderful grandma of Victoria, Joey, Aaron, Chris, Jeremy, Amanda, Shasta, Jodi, Jessica, Chadwick, and great grandma to twelve. Jessie was the dear sister of Joan Hutton (Terry), Ken Heal (MaryAnne), Doug Heal (Cathy), and Dale Heal. She was predeceased by her grandson Justin, her daughter-in-law Debbie and her brother-in-law John. Jessie will be remembered fondly by her many nieces, nephews and their families. A graveside service will be conducted at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford on Friday, July 20, 2018 at 12 noon. Joe passed away peacefully at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre on Wednesday June 27, 2018 at the age of 89 and with his family by his side. He was the son of the late Stanley Williams and Maureen Greer and will be remembered as a loved husband of the former Joan Lister of Meaford. Joe is survived by his brother Rob Williams of Cobourg. WARFE, JAMES FRASER ‘JIMMY’

Jimmy was born in on October 19, 1944, son of the late George and Ruby (nee Barclay) Warfe formerly of Meaford. He passed away peacefully at Errinrung Residence in Thornbury where he had been a loved resident for nearly 19 years at the age of 73. Jimmy is survived by his devoted sister Joyce Warfe and her partner Nelson Rapp of Meaford and will be remembered as a very special uncle by his niece Cindy Johnston of Meaford and her daughters Katelyn and Alyssa; nephews Mark Logan and partner Kelly Juniper of Meaford and sons Jaxon and Chase; and Rob and Tray Logan of Bradford and daughters Yolanda, Alex and Rae. He will be fondly remembered as a dear cousin by Jean and her husband Bruce Mackison of Collingwood. Cremation has taken place and a memorial funeral service celebrating Jimmy’s life and character, officiated by Rev. KELLETT, ALLISON “SUZIE”

Allison Kellett of Meaford passed peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound at the age of 72. Born in Lethbridge, Alberta on August 4, 1945, Allison was the daughter of the late Bud and Dorothy (nee Hiscocks) Francis. She is remembered as a beloved wife by her husband Brian Kellett of Meaford, loving mother to Philip Kellett of Toronto and Sheila Kellett of Tottenham, and adored grandmother to Quinn and Madeline. She is survived by her brother Peter Francis of Edmonton, Alberta. Allison graduated from nurses training in Vancouver, BC in 1968, practiced as a Registered Nurse for over 43 years in Vancouver, Toronto, and finished her career at the Meaford General Hospital. She was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed golf, tennis and pickle ball. She was long time member of the Association and completed the end- to-end hike of the Bruce Trail a few years ago. GILLETT, MARLENE NANCY “MAR”

Marlene Gillett of Meaford passed away at her home on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at the age of 63. Born in Toronto on December 9, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Marion (nee Chalupa) Gillett. Marlene was the much loved mother of Krissa Liatopoulos (Tim), Korie Garcia (Gus), Erin Liatopoulos (Eric) and Steph Liatopoulos (Jordan), and wonderful ‘Pumma’ of Kiara, Sebastian, Nathan, and Cora. She was the cherished sister of Gary Gillett (Rosie), and dear aunt of Allison and Dennis. Mar was affectionately referred to as ‘Mumma Mar’ by all who knew her well, as she was just that! She was a mother figure to all and always greeted you with a warm hug and infectious laugh, and even a stern lecture if you needed it. If you became a part of ‘Mumma Mar’s’ life and circle, you always were. She was always willing to help a friend in need, even if it meant doing without herself. Mar struggled with her health the past few years but maintained her sharp wit and quirky sense of humour. PALMER, LARRY

Born in Meaford on June 27, 1936, a son of the late George and Violet (nee Picot) Palmer, Larry passed away at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre on Saturday June 16, 2018 at the age of 81. Larry was the beloved husband of the former Ruth Robinson whom he married on June 6, 1964 and the couple shared some 54 years together. He was predeceased by his brother Donald Palmer (late Pauline) and is remembered fondly as a dear uncle by his and the Robinson family nieces and nephews and their families. HURLBURT, JAMES ARTHUR ‘JIM’

Jim Hurlburt of Meaford passed away peacefully with his family by his side at the Meaford Hospital on Monday, June 11, 2018 at the age of 76. Born in Toronto on April 28, 1942, he was the son of the late Arthur and Grace (nee Procunier) Hurlburt. Jim was the cherished husband of Diane (nee Hern-Black) Hurlburt of Meaford. He was the much loved father of Sharon Hurlburt (Mike Hermann), Mark Hurlburt (Judy), Peter Hurlburt (Sandra), and Sarah Venton (Kris). Jim was the wonderful grandpa of Samantha, David, Jaimee, Anna, Kylie, Ethan, Hudson, and Gwenhwyfar. He will be remembered fondly by his sisters Mary Duddy (Ian) and Margaret Parke (Larry), his mother-in-law Phyllis Hern-Black, his sisters-in-law Jan Hurlburt (Allan) and Andrea Weiner (late Marshall), and his many nieces, nephews and their families. Jim was predeceased by his sister Pat Hurlburt. Jim thoroughly enjoyed music and directing and singing with the choir at the Meaford First Baptist Church. He obtained his private pilot’s license and loved flying the Cessna and Piper planes. Jim’s skills and abilities were noticed and appreciated as a theatre lighting technician during his college years at OAC and volunteered with some musicals at the Meaford Opera House. He learned to love farming from his Grandpa Procunier and made that his career choice, farming for almost 50 years in St. Vincent Township. Family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church in Meaford on Monday, June 18th from 11 until 1 o’clock. BADGER, KIM

Kim Badger of Sunnyside Beach in Meaford, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound with family by her side at the age of 95. Born and raised in Wilmette, Illinois, Kim was the daughter of the late Walter and Edna (nee Seiden) Maughan. Kim was predeceased by her beloved husband Clifford Badger in 2006. She is remembered as the loving mother of Kenneth and his wife Brenda Badger of Owen Sound, Maren and her husband John Leonard of Winnipeg, Carol and her husband Stephan Tremblay of Meaford, and was predeceased by her son Christopher Badger in 2008. Kim was the loving grandmother of 12 and great grandmother of 12. She was predeceased by her brother Thomas Maughan. Kim was a trained ballerina and danced professionally up until the time she graduated from Northwestern University in Chicago and met Cliff. After moving to Canada she earned her teaching certificate at the National Ballet and opened the Kim Badger School of Ballet in Collingwood and Meaford where she continued to teach well into her 60’s. She had a passion for cooking, loved to knit and sew, and was an avid reader. Funeral services, officiated by the Venerable Judy Walton, will be conducted at St. George’s Anglican Church in Clarksburg on Wednesday June 13, 2018 at 11 o’clock. Frank Clark of Meaford passed away peacefully at Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound with his loving wife and family by his side on Friday May 25, 2018 at the age of 65. Frank was born in Collingwood on February 25, 1953, the son of the late Gordon ‘Steamer’ and Verna (nee Johnson) Clark. Frank was the cherished husband of Irene (nee Swannell) Clark of Meaford. He was the much loved father of Scott Clark (Jenna), Tammy Parrish (Paul), Brandy Kinghan, Angie Laghi, and Tanya Clark. Frank was the proud grandpa of Jordan, Brett, Sky, Liam, Makenzie, Quinn, Emma, Celine, Erica, Emily, and Payton. He was the dear brother of Dorothy Hiltz (David Ripley) and was predeceased by his brother-in-law Rick Hiltz. Frank will be remembered fondly by the Swannell family. RUTT, JAMES B. ‘JIM’

Jim passed away peacefully at his home in Meaford on Thursday May 17, 2018 at the age of 70. He will be recalled as the loving husband of Brenda (nee Wickens) and as the much loved father and Dad of Michelle and her husband Mark Carlson of Meaford and sorely missed Poppa of Alexandra Carlson of Williamsford, Jordan Carlson of Thornbury and Levi Carlson at home, Meaford. He is survived by a sister, Leona (late Jack) Rowley, of London and he was predeceased by a brother Donald Rutt of Owen Sound.

Jim will be remembered also by his sister-in-law Krisella Wickens of Meaford. Jim’s canine companion ‘Bear’ will also miss his presence in the family home. Jim enjoyed a wide variety of interests during his life including serving as a Volunteer Fire Fighter with the Meaford Department. He was an accomplished photographer and guitarist who could play anything from classical to gospel music. He was an amateur astronomer and brilliant electronics technician working at the Penetang Mental Health Centre, Edwards and the Department of National Defence. Jim especially enjoyed fishing and camping and anything ‘outdoors’. Cremation has taken place and a private family disposition of Jim’s ashes will take place at a later date. Born in Meaford on June 20, 1924, a son of the late George and Mabel (nee Washford) Austin of England, Bill passed away peacefully at the Meaford Hospital on Tuesday May 8, 2018 at the age of 93. Bill was the much loved and devoted Dad of Linda Sewell (David) of Meaford, Frances Jolley (Richard) of Owen Sound, Shirley Austin (Scott) of Meaford and Sharon Austin of Acton. He will be the sorely missed Papa of Gregory (Sonja) and Anthony (Amanda), Amanda and Holly, Meagan (Chris), Cameron and Austin, and Owen and great grandfather to Tyson, Emily and Paisley. Bill will be remembered as a dear brother and brother-in-law by Roy (late Ethel) of Hamilton, Frances Sommers of Calgary, Don Austin and his wife Fran of Meaford, June White and her husband Gord of Meaford, Gladys Dobson (late Howard) of Meaford, and Shirley Austin and her friend Dave Nelson of British Columbia. Born in St. Vincent Township on June 5, 1933, a daughter of the late Clifford and Mary (nee Young) Ford, Shirley passed away peacefully at her residence in Meaford, on Sunday May 6, 2018 at the age of 84. Shirley was predeceased by her first husband, Robert ‘Bob’ Morris in 1969, after which time she assumed the role of owner, operator and caring manager of the family business in Meaford, ‘Morris Memorials’, where she became respected in the community and surrounding area for her many years of dedicated service to the citizens she served with great compassion and empathy. Shirley later married William ‘Bill’ Cathrae and the couple enjoyed a fulfilling and active life together, sharing both work and leisure time, and retirement together. They enjoyed over 46 happy years together. Shirley will be recalled as a much-loved mother by her children, all of Meaford, and as a cherished and loving gramma to her grandchildren: Judy and her husband Paul Schultz, and their sons Matthew and Timothy; Terri-Lee Morris and her sons Jason and Jacob; and Robert Morris and his wife Dawn, and their children Cameron and Teagan. She was predeceased by an infant brother Richard and is remembered as a dear sister by Sharon and her husband Richard Turner of Meaford. Shirley was a special sister-in-law to the Cathrae family: Blanche (late John), Marie (late Lloyd), Doug and his wife Orla, Bonnie (late Ted Cathrae), all of Owen Sound, and Carol (late Harvey) Parkin of Meaford. Walter Manning, born in Saskatchewan on November 11, 1922, a son of the late Frederick and Georgina (nee Storey) Manning, passed away in Owen Sound on Monday April 30, 2018 at the age of 95. A longtime resident of the Bognor community and former Road Superintendent of Sydenham Township, Walter was the beloved husband of 57 years of Orla (nee McMillan) now residing in Owen Sound. He will be recalled as a much loved Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa by his children and their families: Fred and his wife Valerie of Bognor and their children Travis and his wife Crystal and their daughter Kendal of Caroline, Alberta, Keegan and Kaelan both at home; Mark and his wife Heather of Tottenham and their children Michayla and Alanna; and Heather and her husband Randy Thompson of Massie and their children Devin and Jordan both at home. Walter was predeceased by brothers Archie of Owen Sound and formerly of Guelph, Gordon (late Eva) of Walters Falls and a sister Jean Mountjoy (late Bruce) of Blackstock. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Jackie and her husband Irv Ramsay of Owen Sound and brother-in-law Eldon and his wife Carol McMillan of Calgary. Allan Saltonoski of Meaford, and formerly of Walter’s Falls, passed away in Meaford on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the age of 89. Al was the beloved husband of Lois (nee Young) Saltonoski of Meaford. He is survived by his sister Mary O’Carroll of Montreal, and will be remembered fondly by Lois’s family and by his many nieces, nephews and their families. Al had a long and fulfilling career with Molson Brewery where he was elected to active Membership to the Master Brewers Association of America. Al and

Lois went on numerous travelling adventures across the globe. He was a very proud Rotarian and an avid curler and golfer. Al enjoyed his time spent with the gang on hunting excursions in northern and Manitoba. He will be remembered for his many contributions in the Walter’s Falls community as a volunteer, Hall Board president, and founding organizer for the Walter’s Falls Art Show. He was a devoted and loving master to a number of Bichon Frise dogs, and most recently ‘Maggy’. Dorothy Marie Henning, formerly of Meaford, passed away at Lee Manor in Owen Sound on Thursday April 26, 2018 at the age of 94. Dorothy was the daughter of the late Russell and Pearl (née Armstrong) Laycock and was predeceased by her husband Stewart Fraser Henning in 2000. She will be remembered as the loving mother of Dennis of Meaford; Pat Markle and her husband Bob of Formosa; Marilyn and her partner Ray Coach also of Meaford and Mike and his partner Karen of Burks Falls. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Kathy Phillips, Sean and Ryan Markle and Matt and Stephen Henning, four great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A brother Harold Laycock and sister Lorna McCracken survive Dorothy. She was predeceased also by brothers Max, Martin, Bill and Ted and by her sisters Betty Hayward and Catherine Skelton and she will be remembered by her many nieces and nephews and their families. ALMOND, RONALD ERNEST

Born at the Cottage Hospital in Meaford on July 1st 1937, a son of the late Ernest and Elma (Holmes) Almond, Ron passed away peacefully and comfortably just before dawn on April 16th at his residence for the past year and a half, Kelso Pines Retirement Home in Owen Sound in his 81st year. Ron will be remembered as the loving brother of James (Isabel) Almond and Shirley (Dale) Keaveney all of Meaford and by his nephews Bradey Almond of Meaford, Brandon Keaveney (Dawna) of Wasaga Beach and Josh Keaveney (Liz) of Brampton. Ron was predeceased by his nephews Bradley and Kent Almond. He will be sadly missed by his great nieces and nephew. Ron worked his entire career at the head branch of the Royal Bank on Front Street in Toronto. He was an avid walker and square dancer who loved to travel to square dances throughout Ontario and as far afield as Florida. Cremation has taken place and a family service will follow at a later date. Eleanor, the daughter of the late Norman and Myrtice Boyle of Meaford, passed away with her family by her side at the Campbell House Hospice in Collingwood on Wednesday, April 11 2018 at the age of 77. Eleanor was predeceased by her daughter Nancy Daigle and brother Vincent Boyle both of Meaford. She will be sadly missed as a loving mother by Chuck (Cindy) Murray of Owen Sound, Rob (Lillian) Murray, Leanne (Rod) Harvey, and Trevor (Jenn) Harvey all of Meaford and by her 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Kenn Rapp, born in Hanover on December 31, 1933, a son of the late Wilfred and Lorraine (nee Procknow) Rapp, passed away at the Hospital on Monday April 9, 2018 at the age of 84. Kenn was predeceased by his wife, the former Myrtle Boyes of Meaford, and he is lovingly remembered by his partner Dorothy Doran of Meaford. He was the father of John (Marilla) Rapp of Oakville and Cameron (Katherine) Rapp and grandfather to their children Logan and Courtney. Carole Gibson of Meaford passed away peacefully at the Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the age of 74. Born in Toronto on January 2nd 1944, Carole was the daughter of the late Pauline (nee Leslie) and Arthur ‘Bud’ Hodges. She was the wife and dear friend of Kevin Rollo of Meaford. Carole was the adored, cherished, and much loved, mother of Duff Gibson (Jen) of Calgary, Carrie Pyatt of Wasaga Beach, and Robin Parry (Todd) of Newmarket. She was the wonderful ‘GG’ of Geddy, Taye, Gaige ‘Single G’, Rachel, Leah, Callum, Hannah, and Sadie. She will be remembered fondly by her great friend Mark Pyatt, and also by Linda Parry, Lennie Bolton, Doug and Sue Gibson, Kim and Darren Lawn, Leigh and Chris McGregor and their families, and by her many friends who will miss her love of life dearly. Carole was one of the first female basketball referees in Canada and was well known for being able to ‘hold her own’ on the court. She loved playing ‘Nic In’ with her friends, teaching her students in both Toronto and Owen Sound, spending winters in Texas, travelling with ‘Kev’, and just spending time with her children and grandchildren. Born in Lion’s Head on October 15, 1938 to Wilfred and Jean (nee Bestward) Stewart, Bill passed away at his residence in Meaford on Saturday March 17, 2018 at the age of 79. Bill was predeceased by his loving wife and partner of sixty years, Carolyn (nee Dyer) Stewart, on October 6, 2017. He is survived by his son Robert ‘Bob’ Stewart of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia and will be remembered by his many friends and neighbours. Bill was predeceased by his brother Carman Stewart (late Blanche) and sister Mae (late Delbert) Wickens of Meaford and was also predeceased by his sister-in- law Frankie (late Bruce) Leisk of Collingwood and he will be remembered by his several nieces and nephews and their families. Bill will be remembered also for his dedicated involvement with the Meaford Chamber of Commerce, his support of the ‘Scarecrow Invasion’, and his willingness to help any neighbour or friend in any way he could and for his unique sense of humour. Bill enjoyed a successful career as a sales manager for the Linde Corporation as well but his passion was in clock building, collecting and repairing which he continued into his retirement and until the time of his death. MATHESON, NANCY DIANE

After a tenacious battle with Parkinson’s Nancy passed away peacefully with family by her side at the age of 77. Beloved wife of John Matheson, Nancy was born in Hanover, ON to the late Stanley and Tillie (née Weis) Wendorf where she enjoyed an idyllic childhood with her sister Jane. Nancy flourished as a working mom raising three children, Lori, Mark, and Kara. The family balanced their time between Meaford during the school year where Nancy worked as a nurse, and Pugwash NS where family and friends gathered annually to spend time and make memories at Matheson Cove beach. The beach tradition grew over the years as grandchildren Logan, Sarah, Sydney, Marisa, and Ripley were added to the family. Nancy revelled in spending time on the sand with her children and grandchildren around her enjoying endless sunny days together. John and Nancy raised and trained standardbred horses on their Meaford farm. Nancy was an avid follower of the horse races and could tell you which horse won which race at what time and speed. She often enjoyed re-watching races of the horses that she and John had personally raised. The barn was like a second home to Nancy and she enjoyed every aspect of raising horses from cleaning the barn to cheering on a winning horse. In her downtime Nancy enjoyed many different creative pursuits from painting and decorating to knitting. Knitting was an especially fond pastime for Nancy as she could share and enjoy it with her two daughters Lori and Kara who have taken up the craft, and will always think of their mom fondly when they spend time with their knitting. Nancy spent many an hour watching her favourite sports teams the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays. Hockey in particular was a family favourite and she was extremely proud watching and cheering on her son Mark when he played minor hockey.

Born in Yarmouth Nova Scotia on February 18, 1933, a daughter of the late George and Margaret Surette (nee Robichaud), Dorothy passed away at her home in Meaford on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at the age of 84. Dorothy was predeceased by her beloved husband John in 2016, and was predeceased by her son Dan in 2004. She will be sadly missed by her sisters Betty Ann and Georgina from Nova Scotia, and was predeceased by her siblings Virginia, Kenneth, Marjorie, Yvonne, Charles, Margaret, and Scottie. She will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and friends. Dorothy was raised by her maternal grandparents until the age of 15. She moved home with her parents for a few years and then married John Raynard at the age of 17. They worked together at Cosmos Imperial Mills in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and then moved to Meaford, Ontario where she worked at Globe Mills and West Mills. She met many wonderful friends throughout her years working in the textile industry. She always made time to talk with friends and family and let them know how special they were to her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church in Meaford on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 1p.m. A service of committal and interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Meaford. SCHEIFELE, GRANT B.A., LL.B, QC Service Details Announced

Grant passed away on December 29, 2017 at the age of 83 after spending Christmas with his family. Loving husband of Barb for 55 years. Wonderful father to Lori (Sanjeev), Kari (Steve), and Bob (Robin). Proud grandfather of Timothy, Jocelyn, Alexandra, and Teddy. Brother of Jean, Dorothy, Marilyn (deceased), and twin Warren. Cherished uncle to many. Grant practiced law for 50 years primarily at Scheifele, Erskine, and Renken and was recognized as a Specialist in Civil Litigation. He was the Chair of the Meaford Hospital and Grey County Children's Aid Society. Grant will be remembered as a phenomenal husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an avid tennis player, golfer, and downhill skier at Georgian Peaks and in Utah. Thank you to Dr. Jim Wong for his loving care over the years. JOLLEY, ROBERT “BOB” LINDSAY

Born in Toronto on May 24, 1944, a son of the late Robert Arthur and Annie (nee Wright) Jolley, Lindsay passed away unexpectedly at his home in on Thursday December 21, 2017 at the age of 73. Lindsay is remembered as the loved husband of Carol (nee Lyon) Jolley and as the devoted father and grandfather of son Robert (Heather) Jolley of Owen Sound and their children David and Tash (Nick); daughter Cynthia (Jim) Sylvest of Owen Sound and children Jake (Brianna), Jamie, Dylan and Dakota; daughter Tammy Jolley (Brad Gill) of Owen Sound and children Broadie, MacKala (Travis); and daughter Lindsey (Matt) Watson also of Owen Sound and son Liam. Lindsay was also a great grandfather to five and brother to Bernice Nye (late Alf) of Owen Sound. He will be fondly remembered by his mother-in-law Anne Lyon (late Mac) formerly of Meaford. (June 16, 1944 - December 18, 2017) Gerry, a son of the late Joseph and Violet (nee Hyland) Wilson, passed away at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre on Monday December 18, 2017 in his 74th year. He is remembered as the beloved husband of Jean (nee Scarrow) Wilson of Meaford and much loved father of Barbara Wilson (Tammy) of Wetaskiwin, AB and was predeceased by his son John Wilson in 2015. He was a dear brother of Ken (Ethel); Audrey Reynolds (late Doug); Margaret Manchester (Rick); Jean Pelland (John); Betty Murphy (Jim); Shirley Cole (late Victor) and David and brother-in-law of Grace. A longtime Meaford resident and familiar cheerful face to many, Mary (nee Ianosch) passed away peacefully at the Meaford Long Term Care Centre on Saturday December 9, 2017 at the age of 96. She was predeceased by husbands Frank Bertram Ridd in 1971 and William Acres in 1988 and she will be fondly remembered as a dear mother by her son John Bertram ‘Bert’ Ridd. Mary will be recalled as a much loved grandmother by Chris Ridd and great grandmother of James and Thomas. DOUGLAS, BETTY MARGARET

Born in Euphrasia Township on June 7, 1930, a daughter of the late Edward and Florence (nee Falls) Lanktree, Betty Douglas of Owen Sound and a longtime former resident of her home in Meaford passed away peacefully in the presence of loving family at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound on Friday December 8, 2017 at the age of 87. Betty is remembered as the much loved and devoted wife of Mack Douglas who predeceased her on July 18, 2017. Betty met Mack through their mutual interest in baseball and the couple wed in Rocklyn in 1948 and enjoyed their life together. Betty and Mack worked together for many years in their insurance business. However, Betty’s main passion was that of caring for her family and community for which her giving manner will not be forgotten. She is remembered also as the much loved mother of Janis Douglas and her husband Jack Langridge and the late Gail Douglas- Becks and she will be fondly recalled by her grandchildren: Alison Barfoot and her husband Adam, Scott Becks and Jeremy Booth and by step-child Elena Langridge and also by her great grandchildren Julia Barfoot and Blake Barfoot. Betty was predeceased by a granddaughter Kimberly Booth and sisters Helen Harvey and Barbara Mohr and brother-in-law Murray Douglas. She will be fondly remembered by Greg Becks (Ann), Carl Mohr and Lois Douglas. Cremation has taken place and a memorial funeral service celebrating Betty’s life will be conducted at Meaford United Church, officiated by Rev. Bob Dunnill of Meaford passed away peacefully with his loving wife Marie by his side at the Chapman House Hospice in Owen Sound on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at the age of 80. Born in Collingwood on September 11, 1937, he was the son of the late Hugh and Mary (nee Dinsmore) Dunnill. Bob was the cherished husband of Marie Dunnill (nee Lambe) of Meaford. He was the kind and fun loving father of Ken Dunnill (Joanne) of Hamilton, Kathy Dunnill (Mike) of Hamilton, Keith Dunnill (Donna) of Meaford, and Karen Dunnill (Chris) of Chatsworth. Bob was the warm, caring and selfless grandpa of John, Theresa, Kolton, Cody, Destiny, and was predeceased by Chad. He was the great grandpa of Zackery and Taylor. He will be fondly remembered by the Dunnill, Dinsmore and Lambe families. All who knew Bob will remember him for his contagious smile, joyful laugh, and his sense of humour. He was a dedicated sports fan no matter how poorly the team played. Bob was talented with his hands, whether he was building with wood or playing the piano. He was a heavy equipment operator for many years of his life and enjoyed his 30 year career with King Paving in Burlington. Bob always enjoyed working hard and having a good time. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Bob’s life will be conducted at the Meaford United Church on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 1 o’clock, with visiting the hour prior to service. SCOTT, GRACE ‘ELEANORE’

Grace “Eleanore” Scott of Meaford passed away on December 3, 2017. Born in Goderich, Ontario in 1925 to George and Edna MacEwan, Eleanore grew up and spent her school years in Goderich. At the age of 8 she lost her mother to complications of scarlet fever. Her father was remarried to Agnes Park Fraser in 1936. Eleanore married Lee Scott in 1945 and for 71 years spent virtually every day together loving and supporting each other until Lee’s passing in 2016. Lee’s engineering career led to homes in Edmonton, Sarnia, Toronto and finally Meaford in retirement. Eleanore loved the process of planning and building and could spend hours working through the details of a house plan. She was a talented oil and watercolor artist, having over 400 paintings hanging on the walls of homes and offices throughout Ontario and beyond. Her interests also included weaving, ceramics, jewelry and singing in church choirs. She volunteered with the Meaford Hospital Auxiliary and for years supported charities that assisted disadvantaged and homeless youth. Eleanore and Lee loved to travel and their adventures took them to Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia. They were lifelong members of the Presbyterian Church and participated in the planning and construction of the new Knox Presbyterian Church in Meaford. Eleanore was preceded in death by her husband Lee, her daughter Jane Arsenault, her brothers Peter and Don, and her granddaughter Carla Haynes. She is survived by her four sons, David (Adaire), Paul (Susan), Brian (Lorraine) and John (Aida). She was blessed with and will be missed by ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. The family would like to acknowledge the dedicated and compassionate care provided by Errinrung Nursing Home through the last two years.
