KILLIN NEWS KILLIN & DISTRICT COMMUNITY NEWSPAPER

October/November 2019 Issue 172 Price £1 Killin News Editorial

During this period when we are all being forced to remain politically in limbo until Brexit resolves, (or not), it is good to know that we still have the reassurance of still having so many groups, clubs and friendships within our own community to cheer, entertain and sustain us through the colder, darker month ahead. Before that though, we can marvel at autumn’s wonderful tree colours, stock up on goodies for the youngsters’ Trick or Treat visits, forage for any remaining fungi (page 34) and reminisce on all the splendid colours DEADLINES of our recent summer. You only need to look at the wealth of colourful Issue 173 photos in this issue to jog your memory. We appreciate their witty creativity. On that note, you too could get creative this autumn – perhaps cooking Index with fungi, designing colourful leaf collages, gouging out scarey pumpkin heads, (don’t forget the candles) or even composing your own poetic Ads Index 38 ‘Ode To Autumn’ (with apologies to Keats). 13 Killin Prim

Sports Ambassadors Congratulations to our newly appointed Sports Ambassadors, who were delighted to be joined by Sam. Cayden, Caitlin and Archie were chosen by a panel after taking part in a group discussion based on how to promote sport at Killin Primary School. We look forward to hearing their ideas for future sporting activities at KPS!

Primary 1s We would like to introduce our new Primary 1s. They look very smart in their school uniforms and they are settling in very well and we are enjoying helping them along. Jodi and Isobel (House Captains)

Bert’s Books A huge thank you to the online book shop, “Bert’s Books” for ‘building our bookshelf’ by contributing 10 fantastic novels to our school. We can’t wait to read them all. The children in Class 2 are already enjoying the ‘Thirteen Storey Treehouse’ Andy Griffiths

Golf Taster We would like to thank Jean, Sheila, Sylvia and Claire who came to school to tell us about Women’s Golf and the Solheim Cup. We got to try out different skills at the different stations. We did putting, target golf and chipping. At the end we had a Solheim Cup Quiz where we were split into two teams – Europe and America. Cai P5

Solheim Cup On Tuesday 10 th September, children from Killin and Crianlarich Primary went to Gleneagles to see the Solheim Cup. We got to do a bit of putting, ride on pedal John Deere tractors and play in the ball pit. The highlight was getting to watch the ladies U17s play. We were all quite inspired. Noa P5

Golden Time We have been experiencing some new activities on our Friday Health and Wellbeing Afternoons such as gardening, meditation, relaxation, yoga, team building, strategic games, mindfulness and arts and crafts.
