France and Paris were changed dramatically by the Enlightenment and ensuing French Revolution. Likewise, many of the monuments and buildings you’ll see on this walk were “reinvented” during the 18th century. The Panthéon, where this walk starts, began as a church sponsored by an absolute monarch and ended the century as a monument to the country’s most famous Enlightenment figures. The place de la Concorde, where the walk ends, saw one monarch celebrated with a statue and another executed on the same site. Saint-Sulpice and Saint- Thomas-d’Aquin were transformed from churches to secular “temples” and back to churches again. And the Palais du Luxembourg, Hôtel de Salm, and Palais Bourbon, homes at the beginning of the century to royalty and aristocrats, ended the century as homes to the country’s newly created democratic institutions. In addition to showcasing neoclassical buildings and monuments, the walk also provides an opportunity to wander through part of the Saint-Germain des Prés quarter, one of the city’s most lively and interesting neighborhoods. Antony - P.L.U. - Rapport de Présentation 6- LES EQUIPEMENTS D’INFRASTRUCTURE Les infrastructures de transport de l’agglomération assurent une desserte exceptionnelle du territoire communal. Créée depuis le 1er janvier 2003, la Communauté d’agglomération des Hauts-de-Bièvre qui regroupe les communes d’Antony, Bourg-la-Reine, Châtenay-Malabry, Le Plessis-Robinson, Sceaux, Wissous et Verrières-le-Buisson est compétente en matière de déplacements et transport sur son territoire. Le PLU doit être compatible avec le Plan de déplacement Urbain d’Ile de France. LE PLAN DE DEPLACEMENT URBAIN (PDU) D’ILE DE FRANCE Le Plan de Déplacement Urbain de la région Ile-de-France a été adopté par arrêté interpréfectoral le 15 décembre 2000. Le PDU définit les principes d’organisation des déplacements de personnes et du transport des marchandises, de la circulation et du stationnement. Il fixe des objectifs, il établit une méthode et une organisation, il détermine les principaux chantiers à mener, il prévoit des financements. Les mesures proposées ont pour but d’améliorer les transports collectifs, de favoriser les modes de déplacements « doux » - vélo et marche à pied – et ainsi diminuer le trafic automobile. Parallèlement au plan de déplacement urbain, une démarche locale peut être engagée pour intégrer les recommandations faites dans ce projet de déplacement urbain et répondre aux préoccupations de la loi sur l’air et l’utilisation rationnelle de l’énergie. Les objectifs sont les suivants : - diminuer le trafic automobile par la promotion de modes de transports combinés et alternatifs - aménager et exploiter le réseau principal de voirie afin de rendre plus efficace son usage, - organiser le stationnement sur le domaine public, sur voirie et souterrain, - réduire les impacts du transport et de la livraison de marchandises Concernant l’Ile-de-France et la commune d’Antony, le plan de déplacement urbain a été élaboré à l’initiative de l’Etat. -

APPROVED BY MEHllERS O~' THE THESIS CO.MNITTEE: Bernard Burke In both a general review of Franco-American re lations and in a more specific discussion of the Anglo American good offices mission to France in 1958, this thesis has attempted first, to analyze the foreign policies of France and the Uni.ted sta.tes which devel oped from the impact of the Second World Wa.r and, second, to describe Franco-American discord as primar ily a collision of foreign policy goals--or, even farther, as a basic collision in the national attitudes that shaped those goals--rather than as a result either of Communist harassment or of the clash of personalities.
