However, a lack of multi-scale studies on intra-urban green space limits our knowledge of human settlement environments in this region. In this study, a synergistic methodology, including the main process of linear spectral decomposition, vegetation-soil-impervious surface area model, and artificial digital technology, was established to generate a multi-scale of green space (i.e., 15-m resolution intra-urban green components and 0.5-m resolution park region) and investigate multi-scale green space characteristics as well as its ecological service in 12 central cities of the Inner Mongolian Plateau. -

At a Glance Advantages of High-speed Rail • Speedy: High-speed trains generally operate at a speed between 200 km/h to 350 km/h – well above the top speed of Hong Kong Airport Express Line trains. The fastest travelling time to Guangzhou will be about 48 minutes; Changsha around 3 hours; Xiamen around 4 hours; Shanghai around 8 hours; and Beijing around 9 hours. • Convenient: High-speed rail stations are generally located closer to city centres. Train services are more frequent, more punctual, and less susceptible to delays caused by bad weather. Passengers generally do not need to check in their baggage. • Environmentally friendly: High-speed rail is a green transport mode. Carbon emissions are only about 15% and 25% of those from aircraft and buses respectively. Co-location Arrangement • One-stop clearance procedures: Passengers can complete both Hong Kong and Mainland clearance procedures in one go at the West Kowloon Station (WKS), and then board trains to all cities on the national high-speed rail network. • Other examples exist: There are other overseas examples (such as the arrangement between the United Kingdom and France, or that between the United States and Canada). A co-location arrangement between Hong Kong and the Mainland has been operating smoothly at the Shenzhen Bay Port since 2007. • Mainland personnel in “Mainland Port Area” only: Mainland personnel will carry out duties only inside the “Mainland Port Area” and cannot enter other areas at the WKS to perform their duties. They cannot take any enforcement action in other parts of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). -

These notes are based upon 3 meetings on the 11th March 2016. This document will ultimately form an appendix to the final report for ‘The Operator’s Story’ piece. Although the findings have been arranged and structured by Imperial College London, they remain a collation of thoughts and statements from interviewees, and continue to be the opinions of those interviewed, rather than of Imperial College London. Prefacing the notes is a summary of Imperial College’s key findings based on comments made, which will be drawn out further in the final report for ‘The Operator’s Story’. Method This content is a collation in note form of views expressed in the interviews that were conducted for this study. This mini case study does not attempt to provide a comprehensive picture of Guangzhou Metropolitan Corporation (GMC), but rather focuses on specific topics of interest to The Operators’ Story project. However, the measurement and analysis of UILU efficiency and intensification are not accurate and in-depth enough. The study of UILU efficiency loss and intensification potential and their relationship is still lacking, and the application of parametric methods with clearer causal mechanisms is insufficient. This paper argued that the intensification potential of UILU could be defined as the amount of saved land or output growth resulting from reduced efficiency loss of UILU. Accordingly, we constructed quantitative models for measuring and evaluating the intensification potential of UILU, using the stochastic frontier analysis (SFA) method to calculate efficiency loss in three major urban agglomerations (38 cities) in China. Our results revealed a large scale and an expanding trend in the efficiency loss and intensification potential of UILU in three major urban agglomerations in China. From 2003 to 2016, the annual efficiency loss of UILU was 31.56%, the annual land-saving potential was 979.98 km2, and the annual output growth potential was 8775.23 billion Yuan (referring to the constant price for 2003). -

The First Real-Estate Development by Japanese Developers in Changchun, Jilin Province, China Marubeni Coporation and Mitsubishi Jisho Residence Co., Ltd. set off the Joint Development –“Changchun Jingyue Project (Tentative)” <Perspective of the project> Marubeni Corporation (“Marubeni”) and Mitsubishi Jisho Residence Co., Ltd. (“Mitsubishi Jisho Residence”), as the first Japanese developers, plan to implement a real-estate development project with Jilin Weifeng Industry Co., Ltd. (“Weifeng”), a local Chinese developer, in Changchun, China. This project, as our first project in Changchun, with an area of 130,000 square meters, is located in Changchun Jingyue National High-tech Industrial Development Zone (“Jingyue DZ”), concentrating on Town House and Residential. The Project Company, Changchun Top Chance Property Development Co., Ltd. (“Changchun Top Chance”) owned by Marubeni (40%), Weifeng (35%) and Mitsubishi Jisho Residence (25%), has started the construction for the release this coming fall. Changchun is the capital of Jilin Province, also a core city in the northeastern part of China, with a population of 7,620,000. It is administered as one of 15 sub-provincial cities which are independent and equivalent to provinces. Having a solid industrial basis including automobile manufacturing as typified by FAW (First Automotive Works) Group, along with manufacturing transportation facilities and processing agricultural products, Changchun is continuing double digit economic growth, which is higher than the national average. Jingyue DZ is a national-level development zone approved by the State Council in August, 2012, with an area of 479 square kilometers, of which about half of the area, 243 square kilometers, consists of forest and a lake. -

Total production value exceeded $79 billion in 2007, up 26 percent from $63 billion in 2006. Exports for 2007 were at $23 billion, a 30 at $18 billion. In the province of Guangdong, there are some 2,000 furniture factories. Begun in the 1990’s, Taiwan and Hong Kong furniture makers moved their plants and businesses here, and the province has assumed a leading role in furniture making ever since, known for highest capacity in producing, selling, moving and exporting furniture. It accounted for one-third of the country’s furniture production and almost half of the country’s total export volume. Of the $23 billion export value of the country in 2007, Guangdong furniture took up 44 percent at $9 billion. Guangdong is such an important market for U.S. woods that in 2009, United States exported $523 million worth of woods, mostly coming to South China. United States ranked as second largest sawn wood supplier to China according to China Forestry Research Institute data. Abstract. Along with the rapidly increasing pressure of urban transportation, China's subway operation is facing the challenge of high-density passenger flow. In order to improve the level of subway operation and ensure its safety, it is necessary to analyze and study the operation status of the metro station under the condition of high-density passenger flow, and propose the corresponding improvement scheme. Taking Guangzhou Metro as the study object, this paper discusses and analyzes the operation and management status of Guangzhou Metro Station. And combined with the risks and deficiencies in the operation and organization of Guangzhou metro, effective improvement measures are proposed in this paper. Operation Status of Guangzhou Metro The first line of Guangzhou Metro opened on June 28, 1997, and Guangzhou became the fourth city in mainland China to open and operate the subway. As of April 26, 2018, Guangzhou Metro has 13 operating routes, with 391.6 km and 207 stations in total, whose opening mileage ranks third in China and fourth in the world now. As of July 24, 2018, Guangzhou Metro Line Network had transported 1.645 billion passengers safely, with an average daily passenger volume of 802.58 million, an increase of 7.88% over the same period of 2017 (7.4393 million).
