Abstract. Plants can rise to purify the atmosphere, the coverage rate of plants and the species of plants are the influencing factors of the atmospheric environment within a certain area. To explore the relationship of plant distribution and local atmospheric environment association between the Shaoguan and the Zhanjiang in Guangdong Province, we can see the vegetation coverage in Shaoguan area is higher than that in Zhanjiang area, but the plant species in Zhanjiang area is more targeted. In a word, the air quality of Zhanjiang area is higher than in the Shaoguan area. So strengthening the study of phytoremediation of air pollution is beneficial to the sustainable development of ecosystem. 1. Introduction Plants, which can exchange large amounts of gases with air through photosynthesis, are important members of the ecosystem. In addition, the surface of the plant will be deposited dry and wet by pollutants that exist in the atmosphere, while plant cells can dissolve gaseous substances and absorb soluble compounds deposited on the plant surface [1]. And different plants have different effects on their atmospheric environment [2] The zonal forest is a typical evergreen broadleaved forest in the subtropics in the north, a subtropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest in the middle, and a tropical rain forest and a monsoon rainforest in the south in the geographical distribution of Guangdong forest. -

Abstract This study was carried out to provide the baseline data on the composition and distribution of the angiosperms and to assess their current status in Rajkandi Reserve Forest of Moulvibazar, Bangladesh. The study reports a total of 549 angiosperm species belonging to 123 families, 98 (79.67%) of which consisting of 418 species under 316 genera belong to Magnoliopsida (dicotyledons), and the remaining 25 (20.33%) comprising 132 species of 96 genera to Liliopsida (monocotyledons). Rubiaceae with 30 species is recognized as the largest family in Magnoliopsida followed by Euphorbiaceae with 24 and Fabaceae with 22 species; whereas, in Lilliopsida Poaceae with 32 species is found to be the largest family followed by Cyperaceae and Araceae with 17 and 15 species, respectively. Ficus is found to be the largest genus with 12 species followed by Ipomoea, Cyperus and Dioscorea with five species each. Rajkandi Reserve Forest is dominated by the herbs (284 species) followed by trees (130 species), shrubs (125 species), and lianas (10 species). Woodlands are found to be the most common habitat of angiosperms. A total of 387 species growing in this area are found to be economically useful. 25 species listed in Red Data Book of Bangladesh under different threatened categories are found under Lower Risk (LR) category in this study area. -

Blume) รองลงมา คือ เสี้ยวป่า (Bauhinia saccocalyx Pierre) และแดง (Xylia xylocarpa (Roxb.) W. Theob. var. kerrii (Craib & Hutch.) I.C. Nielsen) ตามล าดับ ส่วนไม้ต้นชนิดที่มีค่าดัชนีความส าคัญสูงที่สุด คือ เสี้ยวป่า ติ้วเกลี้ยง และแดง ตามล าดับ ค่าดัชนี ความหลากหลายของไม้ต้น มีค่าเท่ากับ 3.6656 ค่าความสม่ าเสมอในการกระจายตัว มีค่าเท่ากับ 0.7995 ค่าความหลากหลาย มีค่าเท่ากับ 39.0785 นอกจากนั้นพบว่ามีไม้พื้นล่าง จ านวน 61 วงศ์ 137 สกุล 145 ชนิด ไม้พื้นล่างชนิดที่พบมากที่สุด ได้แก่ พลูช้าง (Scindapus officinalis -

Due acknowledgement must always be made of the use of any material contained in, or derived from, this thesis. i ii Systematic Conservation Planning in Thailand Daraporn Chairat Abstract Thailand supports a variety of tropical ecosystems and biodiversity. The country has approximately 12,050 species of plants, which account for 8% of estimated plant species found globally. However, the forest cover of Thailand is under threats: habitat degradation, illegal logging, shifting cultivation and human settlement are the main causes of the reduction in forest area. As a result, rates of biodiversity loss have been high for some decades. The most effective tool to conserve biodiversity is the designation of protected areas (PA). The effective and most scientifically robust approach for designing networks of reserve systems is systematic conservation planning, which is designed to identify conservation priorities on the basis of analysing spatial patterns in species distributions and associated threats. The designation of PAs of Thailand were initially based on expert consultations selecting the areas that are suitable for conserving forest resources, not systematically selected. Consequently, the PA management was based on individual management plans for each PA. The previous work has also identified that no previous attempt has been made to apply the principles and methods of systematic conservation planning. Additionally, tree species have been neglected in previous analyses of the coverage of PAs in Thailand. -

Barua*, Girish Gogoi and Protul Hazarika Ecology and Biodiversity Division, Rain Forest Research Institute, Post Box No. 136, Sotai, Jorhat-785001, Assam, India *Corresponding Author: [email protected] [Accepted: 27 August 2018] Abstract: Knowledge of species composition and diversity are of utmost importance, not only to understand the structure of a forest community but also for planning and implementation of conservation strategy of the community. An extensive field study was undertaken to ascertain the structural composition, species diversity and community association of two forest sites i.e. Nambor Wildlife Sanctuary (NWLS) and its South-Westward extended Bornewria forest of Assam, India. The forests represent Tropical moist semi-evergreen and moist mixed deciduous type. The entire area was embraced with a fragmented block of Gondowana formation. A total of 261 plant species were observed from the two forests sites in floristic assessment. Out of which 247 species were recorded from NWLS and in Bornewria forest 136 were enumerated. The overexploitation and shifting cultivation adversely affected the total forested area and species composition of Bornewria forest. Phytosociological studies showed that Vatica lanceaefolia (15.47) followed by Magnolia hodgsonii (10.97), Castanopsis hystrix (10.02) and Mesua ferrea (9.56) were dominated in NWLS. However, in case of Bornewria forest, Hydnocarpus kurzii expressed its dominance with highest IVI values (15.98), followed by Dysoxylum excelsum (13.52), Mesua ferrea (12.37) and Stereospermum tetragonum (11.87). -

Conventional parameters (such as dry weight) are unreliable; thus, the development of rapid, accurate methods that will allow the monitoring of water content variation in live plants is necessary. In this study, we aimed to develop a non‑invasive, radiofrequency‑based monitoring system to rapidly and accurately detect water content variation in live plants. The changes in standing wave ratio (SWR) caused by the presence of stem water and magnetic particles in the stem water fow were used as the basis of plant monitoring systems. Results: The SWR of a coil probe was used to develop a non‑invasive monitoring system to detect water con‑ tent variation in live plants. When water was added to the live experimental plants with or without illumination under drought conditions, noticeable SWR changes at various frequencies were observed. When a fxed frequency (1.611 GHz) was applied to a single experimental plant (Radermachera sinica), a more comprehensive monitoring, such as water content variation within the plant and the efect of illumination on water content, was achieved. -
