They are making a huge impact on the cattle population with their tick resistance, great fertility, excellent carcass traits, finishing ability and capacity to do well in all types of conditions. Cattlemen are seeing th e advantages of introducing Red Brangus. Red Brangus are proving especially popular in cross breeding programs particularly amongst breeders with other red breeds wanting to take advantage of the traits and resultant hybrid vigor that a Red Brangus can offer. The feedback we are getting is – the calves are fantastic – our bullocks are heavier – our cattle are getting quieter. As Red Brangus breeders we are in no doubt our cattle will stand up against any breed, will improve most breeds and will do well in most conditions. We are committed to that end and will back them all the way. REDLINE Peter, Kristine and son Kristopher Dingle from Redline Brangus Stud, Eidsvold, have prepared a team of 26 Red Brangus sires for the Classic Red Brangus Sale. The Dingle Family has been breeding cattle for three generations aiming for the Grass Feed Jap Ox and Trade Heifer market. With this knowledge and experience we select bulls to achieve this outcome. We are dedicated and committed to this breed because it has the versatility to adapt to seasonal conditions, displaying good fertility, softness and the ability to meet market specifications. We believe our Brangus cattle have a broad marketing scope appealing to all types of cattle operations. Our bulls this year were chosen because of their muscling, good temperaments, efficient growth, weight for age, functionality and fertility. This is evident in their semen evaluation and scanning results. DUFF Stephen and Karyn Duff are fourth generation beef producers with a young family who help with the cattle. Stud breeders are run on six thousand acres at Proston while their home base in Gympie’s Mary Valley is used for replacement heifers and bull preparation. Five hundred stud breeders range from fully registered Red Brangus to Brahman cows running with Red Angus bulls for upgrading purposes. The stud aims to produce heavy fleshed cattle with fifty percent bos indicus content and a quiet temperament. The Duff Red Brangus motto is “Quality and Quietness”. Temperament is a key selection consideration as the Duff’s believe quiet cattle do better and are safer and more satisfying to work with. Duff Red Brangus has had good show ring success winning the Grand Champion Brangus Bull in Brisbane in 2006 and 2007 and Senior Champion in Brisbane in 2009 and at the 2010 Queensland Brangus Feature Show. Brisbane Junior Champion and Beef 2012 Reserve Calf Champion Bull, Duff Five Mile F41 is Lot 1 in this year’s ‘Classic Sale’. CHADWICK DOWNS Chadwick Downs is a family owned and integrated business in breeding beef cattle suitable to the Australian environment. Qualities of fertility, longevity and constitution are highly prized and recognised by many breeders both in Australia and around the world. With just over 7000ha at Coonabarabran and Coonamble in the North- West of NSW Australia, Chadwick Downs run a breeding herd of Red Brangus females, selling both bulls and females at auction and privately throughout Australia and overseas. The Chadwick Downs Red Brangus breeding program began in 2000 with the introduction of Red Brangus bulls into the Red Angus herd and the purchase of select registered Red Brangus females. The stud came to prominence with the introduction of the prepotent Duarran Yackandandah, Redline Beaumont and Chadwick Downs Red Hermes and is now producing both bulls and females of exceptional quality and consistency. Red Brangus were selected for their fertility under adversity, constitution and unique ability to complement existing Australian beef herds, in temperate, sub-tropical and central Australian beef cattle breeding areas. JATEEBEE Jack and Mim Walker’s Jateebee Red Brangus Stud is a commercially oriented stud operating in the Maranoa region of southern inland Queensland. Jateebee run their stud breeders alongside the family’s larger commercial herd on properties in the Jackson and Injune districts. The focus at Jateebee is to breed thick, easy doing, fertile cattle that will suit most markets. Fertility is of utmost importance at Jateebee where breeders are run on country that often challenges their constitution and every cow is expected to have a calf each season – no exceptions. Jateebee presents a line of 8 registered 2 year old bulls that are typical of the stud’s goals, for the 2012 Classic nd Red Brangus Sale. And, for only the 2 time in the history of the stud, Jateebee will open their female herd up to astute stud cattlemen and allow them to purchase 5 very feminine, yearling heifers; future matrons of the breed. Commercial cattlemen and stud masters alike will appreciate the tremendous fleshing and sire appeal of the bulls and the honest femininity of the heifers at auction on 25th September. TANNYFOIL The Tannyfoil Brangus Stud, founded in 1998 by Gavin McKenzie and his parents Bevan & Denise, is based at Tannyfoil, Blackwater. The McKenzie’s run a large commercial herd of over 2000 breeders, the majority being red, on properties in the Blackwater, Alpha and Arcadia Valley districts. Progeny and extra purchased steers are fattened off at two and a half years of age for the Jap market. A strict breeding policy concentrates on fertility and weight for age. The studs’ role is to supply bulls for their own breeding program while a number are selected to sell each year. This year six of these bulls will be offered at the Classic Red Brangus Sale. DOONSIDE Doonside is on the coastal side of the Bruce Highway 55kms North of Rockhampton. It is where we endeavor to replace wire-grass on tea tree/ mahogany country with pangola grass and ponded pasture. We like a challenge. Because the Doonside herd has evolved over so many years in such a harsh coastal environment, buyers can be assured their purchases will grow out and do well anywhere. We realise that some of our clients have "good" country and we can assure them that because of our extensive genetic base, the progeny of their purchases from Doonside will have the required growth patterns. Doonside Bulls fit many cross breeding programs - giving the ability to finish and grade in short seasons, with genuine meat quality, good fertility and quiet temperament. Over years of breeding cattle under stressful conditions on poorer coastal country a very hardy line of Red Brangus cattle have developed. Bulls have been sold all over Queensland, New South Wales, The Northern Territory and Western Australia where they have handled even the harshest conditions with the best of them. Loyal Clients We thank you, our loyal clients who attend our sales, buy in our paddocks and provide us with your valuable feedback on our cattle. We will continue to keep in contact with each and every one of you personally. The exercise is not just about telling you what we are doing - it’s about finding out about what you are doing and what you think.

  • History of Ibba
HISTORY OF IBBA How It All Began A review of the development of the Brangus breed would take us back beyond the founding of the American Brangus Breeders Association in 1949; however, registered Brangus descend from the foundation animals recorded that year or registered Brahman and Angus cattle enrolled since then. Much of the early work in crossing Angus and Brahman cattle was done at the USDA Experiment Station at Jeanerette, Louisiana -- the first crosses being made as far back as 1912. During the same period, Clear Creek Ranch of Welch, Oklahoma, the Essar Ranch of San Antonio, Texas, and a few individual breeders in other parts of the United States and Canada were also carrying on private experimental breeding programs. They were looking for a desirable beef-type animal that would retain the Brahman's natural ability to thrive under adverse conditions in combination with the excellent qualities for which the Angus was noted. The early breeders from 16 states and Canada met in Vinita, Oklahoma on July 19, 1949, and organized the American Brangus Breeders Association, later renamed the International Brangus Breeders Association, with headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. One day following the formation of the American Brangus Breeders Association, the July 30, 1949 edition of the Vinita Daily Journal, Vinita, Oklahoma, published a front page article entitled "Pope is named president of Brangus Group." The article went on to read: "Other officers elected here as cattle organization is set up. Raymond Pope, co-owner and manager of Clear Creek Ranch in Northern Craig County was elected president of the American Brangus Breeders Association at the organization meeting for the group held Friday afternoon in Vinita.
