The cornerstone of the initiative is the release, by Naxos Records, of 30 albums over the next decade featuring 100 orchestral, chamber music and vocal pieces from the 19th and 20th centuries. In New York, the Consulate General of Brazil and Naxos Records launched the project at Carnegie Hall with a recital by Brazilian pianist Pablo Rossi, in April 2019. The first recording features Alberto Nepomuceno’s “Symphony in G Minor”, performed by the Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra led by music director and principal conductor Fabio Mechetti. Throughout 2019, Naxos released two additional albums: Leopoldo Miguez’s and Glauco Velásquez’s Sonatas for Violin and Piano, played by Emmanuele Baldini (violin) and Karin Fernandes (piano); and Heitor Villa-Lobos’s, “Guitar Concerto” and “Harmonica Concerto”, performed by the São Paulo Symphony Orchestra, Manuel Barrueco (guitar) and José Staneck (harmonica). Another release, scheduled for 2020, is the Complete Sonatas for Piano and Violin by Heitor Villa-Lobos, that will be recorded in January with Emmanuele Baldini and Pablo Rossi. Other composers to be featured in the series are César Guerra-Peixe, Cláudio Santoro, Edino Krieger, Carlos Gomes, José Siqueira, Lorenzo Fernandez, Camargo Guarnieri, Francisco Mignone, and Almeida Prado. .
