The London International Wine Fair 12-14 May 2009 at ExCeL London First I had just been to see the latest collection at Frost & Reed, established in Bristol in 1808. The latest crop in King Street, St. James's, via Chelsea, shipped in from Basra. Not wines but the highly accomplished war art by Arabella Dorman, from the extreme climate of Maysan. Hard pressed soldiers working to the point where lesser mortals' pips would squeek. High spirited, highly skilled men and women not to be treated like vintages, laid down in cellars, preferably not laid down to rest in perpetuity. Imagine they make wine in Iraq too. The Golden Crescent and the Euphrates, the seat of agricultural expansion, is there a kuneiform for grapes and wine I wonder. Then I have just returned from my annual tour of duty at Royal Victoria Dock tasting wines at The London International Wine Fair. There is a sweet aroma of fresh, raw, grey mullet on my fingertips. My local Algerian fish shop has more choice than the supermarkets. I hope to make something for dinner and have two white wines from the local Indian off licence. I should have dropped into Berry Bros & Rudd while I was at Frost & Reed! But I wasn't enamoured by their Red Nose Day offer some time back. Unfortunately my local wine shops are pretty stagnant with the usual dreary rows of same everywhere labels. I dropped into the Tesco local opposite the fish shop but the shelf-filling was underway and it takes ten seconds to find nothing new. -

Introduction. Wine tourism is an important element of two industries – viticulture and tourism. For the tourism industry, wine is a significant factor of the tour attractiveness, a motive for a special trip. The goals and methods of wine tourism fully correspond to the social and humanitarian mission of tourism as an important factor in the dialogue of cultures, respect for universal cultural values, and tolerance towards the way of life, worldview and traditions of other peoples. Materials and meth- ods. The paper uses a point method for evaluating certain parameters of wine tourism facility attractiveness. According to the defined list, the marketing research with a survey of 22 participants of the Chervene Vyno Festival was conducted in Mukachevo (Ukraine) in 2020 and sources of information regarding three wineries were analysed. Results. The evaluation of wine tourism facilities under examination took into account three components of attractiveness: tourist resources, infrastructure and com- munication accessibility. The methodological basis of the research consists of ten criteria that were evaluated on a scale from 1 to 5 points. -

Transnistria: Conflicts and Pragmatism of the Economy Anatol Gudim, Centre for Strategic Studies and Reforms / CISR 1. The post-soviet area is now – 15 years since the collapse of USSR – still flexible / slidable and tensely. The processes of building of new statehood, transformation of political systems and social life all have theirs common and individual features in former soviet republics. Yet, though, centrifugal tendencies prevail and, as it seems, crystallization of the environment will not commence soon. And appearance of new players in the post-soviet field: European Union, USA, Euro Atlantic and regional international organizations, whose presence has been already showing quite actively in politics – domestic and foreign – of the new states, including Moldova that found itself in a “buffer zone” between the EU/USA and Russia, is partly the reason for this. Russia’s attention towards Moldova (Basarabia – in the past) is traditional, but as for the post-soviet times, it showed the most visibly three times, in connection with the events in Transnistria mainly : in 1992 – in order to stop hostilities; in 2003 – through the “Kozak’s plan” to federalize Moldova; and, finally, in 2006 – in order to overcome the “economic blockade” of this region after the introduction of the “new customs procedures” at the Transnistrian sector of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. 2. Transnistria is one of the “pain spots” on the post-soviet area. For EU, it represents threats of the “frozen conflict” closest to its borders.
