EUROPEAN COMMISSION DIRECTORATE-GENERAL FOR ENERGY DIRECTORATE D - Nuclear Safety and Fuel Cycle Radiation Protection Main Conclusions of the Commission’s Article 35 verification NATIONAL MONITORING NETWORK FOR ENVIRONMENTAL RADIOACTIVITY Central and Southern Italy Campania, Molise, Abruzzo, Marche, Umbria and Lazio DISCHARGE AND ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING Garigliano NPP Date: 12 to 17 September 2011 Verification team: Mr C. Gitzinger (team leader) Mr E. Henrich Mr. E. Hrnecek Mr. A. Ryan Reference: IT-11/06 INTRODUCTION Article 35 of the Euratom Treaty requires that each Member State shall establish facilities necessary to carry out continuous monitoring of the levels of radioactivity in air, water and soil and to ensure compliance with the basic safety standards (1). Article 35 also gives the European Commission (EC) the right of access to such facilities in order that it may verify their operation and efficiency. For the EC, the Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER) and in particular its Radiation Protection Unit (at the time of the visit ENER.D.4, now ENER.D.3) is responsible for undertaking these verifications. The main purpose of verifications performed under Article 35 of the Euratom Treaty is to provide an independent assessment of the adequacy of monitoring facilities for: - Liquid and airborne discharges of radioactivity into the environment by a site (and control thereof). - Levels of environmental radioactivity at the site perimeter and in the marine, terrestrial and aquatic environment around the site, for all relevant pathways. - Levels of environmental radioactivity on the territory of the Member State. Taking into account previous bilateral protocols, a Commission Communication has been published in the Official Journal on 4 July 2006 with a view to define some practical arrangements for the conduct of Article 35 verification visits in Member States.

The rest is picked at perfect ripeness. Skin maceration takes place for a few days. After vinification, malolactic fermentation takes place in steel vats for 5 months. Planting Density: 3,000 vines/ha. Tasting Note: Yellowish straw color with pale green reflections. Tangy citrus aroma reminiscent of grapefruit and green apples. On the palate, crunchy clean, with fruity notes and high minerality which combine harmoniously to achieve perfect balance. “I wanted to give my Garganega the opportunity to express herself in a different way. I wanted her to finally become a real lady; she introduces herself with a citrus bouquet almost grapefruit like. The slow gentle drying of her grapes has concentrated 50 years of history into glorious essence drops. The perfect combination should be… in front of the fireplace with a fish soup.” Production: 5,000 – 8,000 bottles/ year Alc: 12.5% Producer Information Located in the Val di Mezzane valley (Eastern Valpolicella) over a hill surrounded by woods, this gorgeous estate is managed with creativity and strong determination by Camilla Rossi Chauvenet and her coworkers. The name of the winery is from the Latin "Maximum Agium", maximum benefit.

  • Structure in Wine Steiia Thiast
Structure in Wine steiia thiAst What is Structure? • So what is this thing, structure? It*s the sense you have that the wine has a well-established form,I think ofit as the architecture ofthe wine. A wine with a great structure will often remind me ofthe outlines of a cathedral, or the veins in a leaf...it supports, and balances the fiuit characteristics ofthe wine. The French often describe structure as the skeleton ofthe wine, as opposed to its flavor which they describe as the flesh. • Where does structure come firom? In white wines, it usually comes from alcohol or acidity; in red wines, it comes from a combination of acidity and tannin, a component in the grapes' skins and seeds. Thus, wines with a lot of tannin (like cabernet) also have a lot of structure. Beaujolais is made from gamay which does not have much tannin. As a result, Beaujolais can lack structure; it feels soft, flat or simple in the mouth (though its flavors can certainly still be attractive). • While structure is hard to articulate, you can easily taste or sense it —^and the lack of it. • Understanding structure is critical to understanding any ofthe ''powerful" red varieties: cabernet sauvignon, merlot, syrah, nebbiolo, tempranillo, and malbec, to name a few. I just don't think you can understand these wines unless you understand structure, and how it frames and focuses the powerful rush of fruit. It adds freshness, and a "lightness" to the density ofripe fiuit. Structure matters when pairing wine and food. Foods with a lot of structure themselves— like a meaty, thick steak-need wines with commensurate structure (like cabernet), or the food experience can dwarfthe wine experience.

  • La Fabriseria Valpolicella DOC Classico Superiore 2010 35% Corvina - 30% Corvinone - 30% Rondinella - 5% Oseleta
Nicolò Tedeschi founded the company that bears his name in the Valpolicella area in 1824. He was a genuine personality of his time, renowned for his skill and moral stature. Throughout the years, his family has continued the traditional wine-making process, and today, the winery is owned by the fifth generation of Tedeschis: Antonietta, Sabrina and Riccardo. Each has various responsibilities, but it is Riccardo, the oenologist, who deals with production and acts as Tedeschi’s Export Director. La Fabriseria Valpolicella DOC Classico Superiore 2010 35% Corvina - 30% Corvinone - 30% Rondinella - 5% Oseleta The Tedeschi family has endeavored to improve the quality of its wines and to accentuate the relationship between the traditional vines and the region. For this reason, Rosso La Fabriseria, a wine created with an international style has been completely re-conceptualized and today is being introduced to the wine drinking audience as a wine that is coherent with the rest of our production and completely rooted in the Valpolicella region. The grape selection consists of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and a small percentage of Oseleta. The grapes come from vines that are grown exclusively within the Valpolicella Classica Region and are left to over ripen on the vine. The wine yield per hectare is very low and does not exceed that of the Amarone wine. The wine is age exclusively in Slovenian oak barrels. TheValpolicella La Fabriseria is today a great and important Valpolicella wine and represents yet another wine that the Tedeschi family entrusts to tell the world the story of this splendid region. Vineyard notes: Soil: Moraine clay and limestone.
