TELEHOUSE EUROPE AND TELEHOUSE AMERICA TO OFFER TRANSATLANTIC ETHERNET CONNECTIVITY VIA “GLOBAL SubmittedINTERLINK” by: Escherman Wednesday, 3 December 2008
LONDON, UK, 03 December 2008 - Telehouse Europe (http://www.telehouse.net/en/global-locations/uk), the UK’s leading provider of dedicated data centres, colocation facilities, and managed IT services; and its sister company, Telehouse America today announced plans to offer their latest service, Global Interlink (http://www.telehouse.net/en/products-services/interlink-service), a Layer 2 interconnection that offers fast, reliable, transatlantic Ethernet connectivity, to all Telehouse customers housing equipment in any of the Company’s facilities in London, New York and Paris. By utilising the power of virtual LAN (VLAN) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VLAN), Global Interlink will provide client equipment with transparent Ethernet communication as though they were connected to the same Layer 2 switch. No longer limited by physical distances or unpredictable circuit-size cost swings, VLAN provides Telehouse and its customers’ networks with logical connectivity options in several parts of the world, ensuring security, scalability and multi-vendor support for globalised network management. Telehouse (http://www.telehouse.net/en) will also serve as the full-scale point of contact for all data centre and connectivity operational support. Global Interlink subscribers’ transatlantic VLAN connectivity will be managed with 24/7 network monitoring and service desk assistance. In the event that a customer requires attention, Telehouse’s on-site engineering team will be automatically alerted to provide technical support. Installation will be a minimal, one-time charge, for access to a full-duplex port connection and because it is powered by VLAN, a local loop is not necessary. In addition, Telehouse’s web-based traffic monitoring system (powered by Systems Observer (http://www.telehouse.net/en/products-services/systems-observer)) will enable customers to monitor traffic statistics, in addition to their circuit status. Furthermore, Telehouse’s Global Interlink offers a cost-effective VLAN service that promises the shortest lead time and latency, and ensures ease of management and enhanced scalability options. “The Transatlantic Ethernet connection follows on from the recent commercial launch of the VLAN Interlink between Telehouse data centres in London Docklands and Paris”, said Andrew Fray, Business Development Director. “Our customers have always been able to connect between our three London sites, now they’ll enjoy connectivity on a Global scale whilst maintaining carrier neutrality”.
