Kennedy. Without previous announcements, the caskets of the 35th President and his two dead children were raise d from their temporary sites last night, carried about 20 feet downhill and reburied in the still uncompleted granite memorial. The 20-min service today was conduc ted in a driving rainstorm that .pelted the participants as they huddled around Cardinal Cushing, archbishop of Boston who officiated at the funeral of President Kennedy on Nov. 26, 1963. Bill Blackburn, Paul Glynn, Ashto n Gonella, MF, Mary S, Dr. Voss, Clint Hill -- I it was raining and the President came out from the mansion under an umbrella w/ Ashton Gonella. Temperature was about 50 degrees -- aboard the helicopter the President read the morning papers 8:10a Arrived Andrews Ai Force Base -- and to Air Force One -- under the umbrella. J ( 8:30a CST Air Force One landed at Nashville, Tenn, Airport ^c -- ust prior to landing, the President dressed and went into the stateroom. 8:42a Air Force One pulled up to reception area at Airport -- the President descended the stairs to be greeted by Mrs. Johnson, Gov and Mrs. Ellington and a receiving | line of local dignitaries. The day was gray, cool, and windy - - rai n was not falling, but seemed imminent. There were just a few signs--the local populace had not been notified of the President's arrival until 4:00p yesterday--our advanc e team did not land until 4:00p, and so this explained the sparse reception. Approx 1,000 people were at the airport, according to police estimate , and a few homemade signs were / \ '. I r evident. A large sign, "Welcome, Mr. President," ' covered the airport tower building. 8:47a t Motorcade ddparted the Nashville Airport. _ Riding w/ the President were Mrs. Johnson, *m Gov and Mrs. Ellington, Mayor :__- - and Mrs. Beverly Briley, Cong.
