Dude really wa Despite being the companion piece to Frank Miller's Daredevil Omnibus, they actually put all the best stories in this one. I've never read a Miller book quite this abstract, Sienkiewicz art definitely helps but overall it didn't grab me too much. Seller does not offer returns. This story is brilliant, it shows kingpin at his worst, destroying daredevils life bit by bit. Hardcover , pages. Female Asian-Immigrant Representation in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
Female Asian-Immigrant Representation in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 From the Hollywood behemoth that is Marvel’s Cinematic Universe comes Guardians of Galaxy Vol. 2, a typical fun, action-packed superhero film that follows Peter Quill and the rest of the eponymous team as they discover the answer behind Peter’s elusive parentage. Written and directed by white American filmmaker, James Gunn, the film grossed more than $838 million worldwide, holds an 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, and was honored with an Academy Award nomination. Yet despite this widespread financial and critical success, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which introduces to the big screen Marvel’s very first female Asian superhero, crafts a problematic character in Mantis (played by French-Korean actress, Pom Klementieff). Hidden behind the film’s kaleidoscopic visuals and zany humor lies an age-old subscription to orientalism, yellow peril, and lotus blossom stereotypes, all of which together culminate in perpetuating a ruling class ideology that Asian women are helpless perpetual foreigners whose sole purpose is to serve and be saved by white men. This film is science-fiction. It takes place in space. Nobody, not even Peter Quill, is entirely human. Characters consist of one green-skinned alien, three blue-skinned aliens, countless gold-skinned aliens, talking trees, talking raccoons, and a man with a fin on his head. Yet it is Mantis alone who speaks with a heavy, non-Western accent. From her very first appearance, Mantis is singled out as a perpetual foreigner, a term that harkens back to the keywords of orientalism and yellow peril. -

Earth-717: Avengers Vol 1 Chapter 10: Suicide Mission “My, my, my! To have so many of our friends together in the same place! I know that it is under quite distressing circumstances, but still, it's wonderful to have such a congregation!” Steve, Tasha, Thor, Bruce, Carol, Reed, Susan, Johnny, Ben and Herbie were all in one of the hangars on board the Valiant. The Rogue One had been moved from the Senatorium to the Valiant earlier that day, and Tasha had finished installing her new upgrade to the ship. Hundreds of other Nova pilots and officers were moving around the hangar, preparing for the battle ahead. Herbie bounced up and down as he looked around at the group. “To see the Fantastic Four ready to go into battle alongside such brave and noble heroes like yourselves! It is truly remarkable, is it not, Doctor Richards?” “It sure is,” said Reed. “You've got quite a team.” “Put it together at the last minute,” said Tasha. “Since somebody decided that they wanted an interstellar vacation at the worst possible time.” “Hey!” said Johnny. “Wasn't my fault! Blame these guys! I just went along for the ride!” Ben gave Johnny a light smack on the back of the head. “Nobody asked you, junior.” Johnny grumbled as he tried to fix his hair. Reed laughed before looking back Steve. “Don't suppose you'd like to tell me how I'm standing across from Captain America?” “I guess that a man of science like yourself would be interested in that sort of thing,” said Steve. -

As low as hes ever been, can he really rise to the challenge Landau, Luckman, and Lake have set up for him? Deadpool Classic 3 covers some of the earliest solo comics by the Merc with the mouth. First, the series could never get a steady artist. The drawings therefore are all over the place from very basic to a bit overblown. These initial issues were never really known for the drawings anyway.Sadly the stories are all over the place like the art. In fact issue #11 is a real low point. Deadpool travels through time and inserts himself into Spider-Man #47. The comic is utterly boring. It’s almost all dialogue between Peter Parker and his friends. Eventually Kraven appears but the action take so long to develop there’s no payoff. It is by far the worst Deadpool ever. To complete the circle they included the original Spider- Man at the end.In the bigger picture there are four main themes going on. -

His first act as Emperor was to order their combined forces to Earth to defeat their mutual enemy, the plantlike race known as the Cotati. Led by Quoi, the prophesied Celestial Messiah, and his father, the Swordsman, the Cotati plan to eliminate all animal life --starting with Earth. The united members of the Avengers and Fantastic Four have been defending the planet from the invading Cotati but were unable to stop them from planting the seeds for the Death Blossom. Once it blooms, the Cotati will have control of all plant life in the galaxy. Captain Marvel and the Human Torch teamed up with former Young Avenger Wiccan, who revealed he and Hulkling had recently married. He also exposed Emperor Hulking as R’Klll, the former Skrull empress, in disguise.
