JOHN WHITEHOUSE 2 Railway Herald - Volume 1 : Issue 44 Refurbishment of Hoylake station completed Mark Dowd, Newsdesk chairman of Merseytravel, unveiled a commemorative plaque at Hoylake station on 12 July to mark the completion of its latest station refurbishment project, costing £600,000. The completion coincided with the finalising of arrangements made to greet the many visitors expected to arrive between 13-25 July to watch the Open Golf Championships being hosted at the nearby Hoylake course. The refurbishment project was designed to complement the station’s existing 'art- deco' structure which was the result of the last rebuild in 1938 leading to it being made a Grade 2 listed building.
