He very carefully and lovingly prepared this world and all that is in it like parents would prepare a nursery for the new born baby. He did it all for man to enjoy all his days upon the earth. God spoke to the earth and the trees and all vegetation came into being. If you take a tree out of the soil – its source – it dies. God did the same with the fish in the sea – He spoke to the waters and created all the sea / water creatures and plants. Again, if you take the fish out of its source, it dies. When God made man , He spoke to Himself : “Let Us make man in Our Image.” He took out of Himself LIFE which belongs to Him only, and placed it into man. Man was created from God – God is man’s Source . If man walks away from God, He is cut off from his Source and will die! The purpose of this book is to help man find his way back to God and to be restored to his Source. May God give us His grace as we journey back into His Presence through the Door, Yeshua , and by His Blood alone, this has been made possible!! HALLELUJAH!! 4 In The Beginning… “In the beginning” God has this plan to create something special out of chaos and goes on to make the Earth and Man. Man is unique, He is made in God’s own Image, i.e. we carry the unique identity of being a spirit man – but although we are of the same spirit, we are given freedom of choice – we each make a choice as to whether we will serve God or not. To enable man’s existence on earth to be blessed, God gives him access to the Tree of Life. Gen. 2:9 “9 And out of the ground the Lord God made to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight or to be desired—good (suitable, pleasant) for food; the tree of life also in the center of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of [the difference between] good and evil and blessing and calamity.” The Tree of Life is a permanent part of God’s plan for man. Rev. 2:7 “7 He who is able to hear, let him listen to and give heed to what the Spirit says to the assemblies (churches). To him who overcomes (is victorious), I will grant to eat [of the fruit] of the tree of life , which is in the paradise of God.” When Adam and Eve sin by disobeying God’s commandments – they are exiled from the Garden of Eden and from the benefits of the Tree of Life. God’s plan for man to reconcile with Him is: - a life of faith by choice - a life of faith by obedience - the application of the blood of a sacrificial lamb. Man lives in a physical world. His ability to communicate, understand and have intimacy with God has been significantly reduced / changed, from daily intimacy face to face to – as Paul describes it – looking through a darkened mirror. In order that Man has some means to determine the boundary of the covenant , God gives us the Ten Commandments, the prophets and the Holy 5 Spirit to set the physical boundary. In this way we can interpret where / when / how the spiritual boundary is formed. THE TREE OF LIFE: It is essential that believers come to understand the nature of God and the fact that since the very beginning of time He has been waiting expectantly for each one of us to “return” to Him. God’s nature and desire is that when we choose to follow Him, that this covenant should be the foundation of our lives – in this way we will stand when the storms of life and the words of deceit from foreign gods are spoken all around us. a) God’s Covenantal Boundary for His people: The physical boundaries that define my lifestyle as a free-will offering of sacrifice to God will cause: - me to experience His blessing; - me to be protected at all time; - others to see and come to know God. I want to highlight the first 3 of the Ten Commandments – those that relate to Who God is and how we relate to Him. 6 The other seven Commandments reflect my inter-personal reaction within the community of believers and other neighbours here on earth. Commandment No. 1: Ex. 20:2 “2 I am Yahweh, Who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.” We accept here the proclamation that there in only One God . Commandment No. 2: We accept here the Commandment that we will have no other interest that we will passionately follow hard after God. Therefore anything which competes with God for our time, energy, passion is an idol . Ex. 20:3-6 “3 You shall have no other gods before or besides Me. 4 You shall not make yourself any graven image [to worship it] or any likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 You shall not bow down yourself to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me, 6 But showing mercy and steadfast love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.” Col. 3:5 “5 So kill (deaden, deprive of power) the evil desire lurking in your members [those animal impulses and all that is earthly in you that is employed in sin]: sexual vice, impurity, sensual appetites, unholy desires, and all greed and covetousness, for that is idolatry (the deifying of self and other created things instead of God).” 1 Cor. 8:5-6 “5 For although there may be so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth, as indeed there are many of them, both of gods and of lords and masters, 6 Yet for us there is [only] one God, the Father, Who is the Source of all things and for Whom we [have life], and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through and by Whom are all things and through and by Whom we [ourselves exist].” 1 Cor. 5:11 “11 But now I write to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of [Christian] brother if he is known to be guilty of immorality or greed, or is an idolater [whose soul is devoted to any object that usurps the place of God], or is a person with a foul tongue [railing, abusing, reviling, slandering], or is a drunkard or a swindler or a robber. [No] you must not so much as eat with such a person.” 7 Eph. 5:5 “5 For be sure of this: that no person practicing sexual vice or impurity in thought or in life, or one who is covetous [who has lustful desire for the property of others and is greedy for gain]—for he [in effect] is an idolater —has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.” Acts 17:16 “16 Now while Paul was awaiting them at Athens, his spirit was grieved and roused to anger as he saw that the city was full of idols .” Commandment No. 3: Ex. 20: 7 “7 You shall not use or repeat the name of the Lord your God in vain [that is, lightly or frivolously, in false affirmations or profanely]; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.” We accept here the principle that my lifestyle/role-model will reflect the character of God.
