LOCATION Identified asAnsley Viaduct, the proposed project would reconstruct approximately 0.55 miles of U.S. Highway 183 (US-183) and approximately 0.10 miles of Nebraska Highway 92 (N-92). On US-183, the project starts at about the west junction of US-183 and N-2 at mile marker (MM) 88.83, and extends east and north to about MM 89.38, approximately 0.15 miles north of the east junction of US-183 and N-92. On N-92, the project starts at about the east junction of US-183 and N-92 at MM 299.86 and extends east approximately 0.10 miles to MM 299.96. Construction may begin and/or end approximately 1,000 feet ahead of or beyond the actual project limits to accommodate transitioning the pavement, bridge work, updating guardrail and temporary surfacing to accommodate phasing requirements. PURPOSE AND NEED The purpose of this proposed project is to preserve the US-183 & N-92 transportation asset, improve the reliability of the transportation system, and perpetuate the mobility of the traveling public. The need for this proposed project is based on the current condition of the roadways and bridges. SCOPE OF WORK The proposed improvements on this project consist of one bridge rehabilitation, one bridge removal and replacement with a concrete box culvert, removing the existing pavement and foundation course on the driving lanes and shoulders, rebuilding with doweled concrete pavement on a foundation course and removing and replacing guardrail. The project would also consist of a concrete shoulder, earth shoulder construction, constructing driveways and intersections, new erosion control curb and flume, and overlay. CONSTRUCTION SCHEDULE Construction for the proposed project could begin as early as fall of 2019 and be complete by the winter of 2020. RIGHT-OF-WAY The proposed project would require the acquisition of additional property rights which could include new right-of-way (ROW), temporary easements (TE), and/or permanent easements (PE) at certain locations within the project area. If your property is impacted by this project, you will be contacted by a representative once the design has been finalized. Access to adjacent properties would be maintained during construction but may be limited at times due to phasing requirements. POTENTIAL IMPACTS No wetlands or channel impacts are anticipated.

ESTIMATED COSTS The cost of the proposed project is approximately $4.9 million and would be derived from federal and state funding sources. ACCOMMODATION OF TRAFFIC A portion of the proposed project would be constructed under traffic with lane closures controlled with approved temporary traffic control devices and practices; however, the proposed rehabilitation of the viaduct across the BNSF railroad tracks and construction of the new pavement at the approaches to the viaduct would require detouring US-183 and N-92 traffic. Approximately 0.15 miles US-183, beginning at about the east junction of US-183 and N-92 and continuing north to the project limits, and 0.10 miles of N-92, beginning at about the east junction of US-183 and N-92 and continuing east to the project limits, would be constructed under traffic. Approximately 0.40 miles of US-183/N-92, between the west junction of US-183 and N-2 and the east junction of US-183 and N-92, would be closed to traffic. This section includes the viaduct over the BNSF railroad tracks. The designated detours along state highways would need to be utilized while the closures are in effect. DETOUR A designated detour would be provided utilizing US-193, N-92, Nebraska Highway 2 (N-2), and Nebraska Highway 70 (N-70).
