Loss Control Specialist – Workers’ Compensation Supervisor: Executive Director HR, W/C, Division: Workers’ Comp Unemployment Location/Assignment: NCESD 171 - Wenatchee Range: Conditions of work: 8 hours/day, 200-260 days per $47,695 - $57,250 (LC Specialist 1) year non-exempt position $60,230 - $72,299 (LC Specialist 2) Salary based on 260 day position Salary range dependent upon experience and expertise.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: This position is a rare opportunity to join an exciting team. The regional Education Service District 171 (ESD 171) is seeking a dynamic team player interested in making an impact in the lives of district staff as the Loss Control Specialist for 29 School Districts within our ESD region. This position is based in Wenatchee, Washington. Qualifications - Required:  Minimum two (2) years’ experience in employee safety, DOSH compliance, risk management or industrial hygiene. (Education in this specific area may substitute for work experience)  ARM-P or CSRM certification or ability to obtain within the first year  Proven experience analyzing losses and implementing safety programs  Experience presenting in front of a group  Ability to positively interact with people and provide outstanding customer service  Advanced knowledge of Microsoft programs including Word, Excel, and Publisher  Possess excellent oral, written, and organizational skills  Valid Washington Driver’s License.  Willingness to travel frequently

PREFERRED:  BA degree in Occupational Safety and Health related field  3 years of experience in the field

NCESD is an Equal Opportunity Employer Responsibilities:  Assist in collaborating with others (e.g. other staff, district personnel, public agencies, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services (i.e. accident prevention, safety programs and trainings, documentation and reporting requirements, etc.) in accordance with programmatic and regulatory requirements.  Assist in compiling data from a wide variety of sources for the purpose of assisting with analyzing claim and loss control issues, ensuring compliance with various policies and procedures and/or monitoring program components.  Under the direction of the Executive Director of Work Comp and W/C team, assists in developing long and short range plans in relation to assigned administrative responsibilities (e.g. policies, procedures, staffing, materials, equipment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring organizational objectives are achieved in the most efficient and timely manner.  Conducts safety audits, inspections and workplace assessments in order to identify safety hazards for the purpose of developing appropriate action plans to eliminate and/or reduce employee injuries.  Serves as part of a team in the role of consultant for district staff, answering questions, provide trainings, pertaining to safety requirements and leading practice.  Develops training and informational materials related to safety programs for the purpose of maintaining and promoting employee safety.  Participate in safety meetings, workshops and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information.  Assists in the implementation and development of existing and new programs/services (e.g. accident prevention training, hearing conservation, employee assessments, reporting requirements, emergency response planning etc.) for the purpose of ensuring, maintaining and promoting employee interest in safety.  Assist in researching information required to manage assignments including reviewing relevant policies, current practices, staffing requirements, claim trends, etc., for the purpose of recommending alternative courses of action to reduce the frequency and severity of incidents; ensuring program is in compliance with current laws, rules and regulations.  Maintain highest standards of confidentiality.  Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary and ability to work within a high functioning, fast paced team.  Ability to read, interpret, apply and explain rules, policies and procedures.  Successfully handle frequent interruptions, changes in assignments, and functions effectively with a demanding work load and ability to meet schedules and timelines.

If work is found to be unsatisfactory, the employee is subject to termination. Physical Demands  Frequent travel within the ESD 171 region. Some overnight travel may be required.  Extended or flexible hours as necessary.  Sitting for extended periods of time may be required. Lifts and carries a maximum of 40 pounds. Adequate manual and finger dexterity, hearing, speech, and vision are necessary to perform the essential functions of this position.
