MAKING MACON LIVABLE 365 Presented by: AARP In 2012, our community was recognized by AARP and the World Health Organization as an Age Friendly Community, the first in the country. The Making Macon Livable 365 display, located in the Round Building at Central City Park, showcases the 8 Domains of Age Friendly—outdoor spaces, transportation, housing, social participation, respect and social inclusion, civic participation and employment, communication and information, and community support and health services. There are 300,000 – 350,000 Yoshino Cherry Trees in Macon, Georgia, which gives us the Congressional Record of the Cherry Blossom Capital of the World. If the chair is in a bag, it must be removed from the bag and shown to the admissions team. WHERE DO I PARK WHEN VISITING CENTRAL CITY PARK? On a first-come, first-served, limited basis, there are two free parking lots within Central City Park-- United Building parking lot and Luther Williams Field parking lot. We also provide three free Park & Walk locations near Central City Park. Two parking lots are located along Walnut Street, one lot is located along 7th Street. Please look for directional signage and pink flags noting our Free Park & Walk locations. We also offer overflow parking at an additional free Park & Walk location on New Street and Riverside Drive (843 Riverside Drive, Macon, GA 31210). Handicapped parking is located inside Central City Park. Please enter the Festival at Willie Smokie Glover Drive and turn into the United Building parking lot on your right. In celebration of spring and the Cherry Blossom Festival, Central Georgia artists interpret botanical themes in artwork representing a variety of genres. These unique handmade items are curated by Macon Arts Alliance and will be exhibited and for sale from March 6-27 at the Macon Arts Gallery. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is bringing a Walk MS to Macon, GA, on March 14th! While there is no registration fee for Walk MS, the Society encourages participants to pledge a donation. Money raised at Walk MS helps fund groundbreaking research and supports programs and services for those impacted by MS. This event is an opportunity to come as an individual or as a team to raise money and awareness for Multiple Sclerosis. The site opens at 8 am with the Walk beginning at 10 am, and ending around noon. Music and food are available at registration outside the GEICO building in the courtyard at 4400 Ocmulgee East Blvd. Macon, GA 31295.
