March is here and our budget is almost prepared. We have been working diligently to prepare a budget that maintains our educational vision while at the same time being fiscally responsible to the community. We continue to work within the parameters of what the State allows without asking for a 60% majority vote. As a community, everyone needs to realize this does affect program growth to some extent. When the State created the tax cap back in 2011, and the fact that we were just starting to come back from the economic recession, schools including Johnsburg have had a very hard time implementing new programs. I feel we continue to Principal’s Message have a competitive and challenging curriculum that we offer our students, but at the same time, I do wish funds were available so we could do more. The 2018- 2019 school budget will be voted on by the full Board on March 26, 2018.

JCS Students Head to March Music Maple Avenue Middle Happenings School to Perform at NYSSMA On Friday, March 9th, Ms. Cole and Mr. Garrett will be bringing 28 students from JCS to perform in front of judges for the annual Spring Festival for New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA). Students have been preparing classical vocal and instrumental solos for months in order to prepare for their performance. Solos are varied from levels 1-6, based on difficulty. Students competing at higher levels are eligible for consideration for the NYSSMA Area- All State Festival. A smaller group of students will be competing at the All-State level in June at Shaker MS in Latham. Learn the basics of knitting - slip knot, cast on, garter stitch, stockinette stitch and cast off. Knitting needles and yarn will be provided for initial projects. The knitting circle meets every Thursday, Nov. to April (not school outh vacations). Students don’t need to be present every week to be part of the program. Knitters from previous years are always welcome to knit with us and would be especially welcome to help new knitters.
