The super-rich are losing their appetite for fine dining in London, according to an annual survey of the world’s top 100 restaurants, with the number of UK eateries dropping by a quarter and every British entry slipping in the rankings. Voted for by regular private jet passengers, of the eight UK venues to make the cut this year, only one made the top 10 — The Fat Duck in Bray, which slipped two places to rank fifth. Individual UK entries fell by an average of 16 places. Tim Russell’s 50 recommended London restaurants I have had the opportunity of writing a few restaurant reviews over the years and I am often asked for recommendations in London especially from friends outside town. Anyway, with a natural bias to West London where I live, I thought it might be fun to put a list of my 50 favourite London restaurants onto my website in case it assists you in choosing a lunch or night out in town. Some sad recent departures in these covid times such as Le Caprice and The Ledbury ( both exceptional over the years ) but in the difficult world of today London is now one of the world’s top cities to dine out in . Some wonderful experiences and a fun if difficult task to name a top 50 but here it is . The restaurants have been set out in alphabetical order and split between the more expensive and the less expensive 25 in each and 5 in each in bold to highlight my personal favourites ) I do accept many are for special occasions. All very subjective of course so, as they say, don’t blame the juggler if you disagree with any recommendations.
