Summary the Beijing Forest Insect Atlas(I) Guo-Yue YU, He WANG Summary The Beijing Forest Insect Atlas(I) Guo-yue YU, He WANG It briefly introduced the basic knowledge of forest insect pests, such as native trees with more insects living on, the periodic outbreaks of some herbivorous insects, man-made pests etc. They are quite different from agricultural crop pests as far as the yield is concerned, with emphasis on the importance of correct identification and their biology. If there is no knowledge of its biology when a herbivorous insect appears in large number, observe and study the causes and biology first before taking chemical control action. The species accounts contain 629 insect species, most of them are herbivores, some are predators and parasitoids, and a few are common species met in Beijing forests with no obvious relationship with trees. Each species is provided with up to six images including an image of the adult (with a few exceptions). Images are taken in field with a few indoor ones. Each species includes succinct text with information on scientific name, recognition, food plants and concise biology, and distribution. One new synonym is suggested, 61 species are recorded as new to Beijing, and 7 of them are new records to China. New synonym: Syringilla viteicia Li, 2011 = Syringilla humerosa Loginova, 1967 New records to China: Thrips nonakai Masumoto et Okajima, 2013 (Thripidae) Eurhadina betularia Anufriev, 1969 (Cicadellidae) Alloxysta pallidicornis (Curtis, 1838) (Figitidae) Phaenoglyphis stricta (Thomson, 1877) (Figitidae) Chrysoperla nigrocapitata Henry et al., 2015 (Chrysopidae) Corticeus fraxini (Kugelan, 1794) (Tenebrionidae) Vipio appellator (Nees, 1834) (Braconidae) The survey came about following a request from Tai Po Environmental Association. Recording, using ultraviolet light sources and live traps in four sub-sites, took place on the evenings of 24 April and 16 October 2009. In total, 825 moths representing 352 species were recorded. Of the species recorded, 3 meet IUCN Red List criteria for threatened species in one of the three main categories “Critically Endangered” (one species), “Endangered” (one species) and “Vulnerable” (one species” and a further 13 species meet “Near Threatened” criteria. Twelve of the species recorded are currently only known from Hong Kong, all are within one of the four IUCN threatened or near threatened categories listed. Seven species are recorded from Hong Kong for the first time. The moth assemblages recorded are typical of human disturbed forest, feng shui woods and orchards, with a relatively low Geometridae component, and includes a small number of species normally associated with agriculture and open habitats that were found in the SSSI site. Comparisons showed that each sub-site had a substantially different assemblage of species, thus the site as a whole should retain the mosaic of micro-habitats in order to maintain the high moth species richness observed.

  • El Género Rhyacionia Hübner [1825] En La Península Ibérica (Lepidóptera, Tortricidae)
Bol. San. Veg. J. RESEARCH Scientific Names of Pest Species in Tortricidae (Lepidoptera) Frequently Cited Erroneously in the Entomological Literature John W. Brown Abstract. The scientific names of several pest species in the moth meate the literature. For example, the subfamilial designation for family Tortricidae (Lepidoptera) frequently are cited erroneously in Olethreutinae (rather than Olethreutidae) was slow to be accepted contemporary entomological literature.
A.I. Kurentsov's Annual Memorial Meetings ___________________________________________________________________ 2014 вып.

Co. Ltd., Nonsan 32923, Korea 2The Institute for Conservation of Wild Species, Daejeon 34704, Korea 3National Institute of Ecology, Seocheon 33657, Korea ABSTRACT We surveyed the biodiversity of lepidopterous insects in Jindo Island using UV bucket trap in July 2016 to determine the relationship between surrounding environment and ecosystem in order to contribute to biodiversity conservation and management of coastal islands in Korea. Based on our survey results, a total of 262 lepidopterous insect species in 16 families were collected from Jindo Island. Members belonging to families Noctuidae and Geometridae made up approximately half of the total species (86 species [32.82%] in Noctuidae and 44 species [16.79] in Geometridae). There were 29 species (11.07%) belonging to Crambidae and 28 species (10.69%) belonging to Pyralidae. As a result of all collections based on previous literature and this study, a total of 730 species belonging to 34 families were collected from Jindo Island, including 33 protected species, 242 species (33.15%) belonging to Noctuidae (the most abundant), 124 species (16.99%) belonging to Geometridae, 79 species (10.82%) belonging to Crambidae, and 65 species (8.90%) belonging to Pyralidae. The most frequently collected species was Lamoria glaucalis in this syudy. Our results on the diversity of lepidopterous insects will provide basic information for future investigation on diverse changes in the ecosystem of Jindo Island, Korea.
