[CLIENT] PlateníkVladyka1703 NT1510146 31 August 2017 Research Highlights GOALS Continue to research the Czech ancestry of Karl Mottl, starting with the Novy family in Lhota Svejcarova, Strakonice. Continue to research the Czech ancestry of Barbara Dittrich, starting with the Vesely family in Cenkow, Pribram. PROGRESS Searched for the birth of Antonie Bryndáčova, the mother of Anna Veselá in the indexes for Drahlin. It was not found. Discovered that the marriages and births around 1840 in Drahlin are only available onsite. Searched for the marriage of Josef Novy and Marianna Kusová in Kraselov, Horážd’ovice, Strakonice, Radobytce, and Dražovice to determine if any of them was the town of “Ražowitz.” No marriage was found. Searched for Vaclav Vesley's birth in Čenkov (Jince parish), and his parents’ marriage (Václav Vesely and Josef Lukášová). The relevant records are only available onsite. Found the marriage of Tomáš Platenik’s parents, Jakub Platenik and Anna Vaček. Discovered ten of Tomáš’ siblings. Discovered the baptisms of Jakub Platenik’s ten siblings. Discovered the deaths of several members of the Platenik family. Discovered a possible father, and paternal grandparents of Jakub Platenik, who are the end of the Plateník line. Discovered the baptisms of ten of Rosalie Vladyka’s siblings. RECOMMENDATIONS 1. Send a Legacy Tree Genealogists onsite researcher to the Prague Archives to do the following: a. Search for the birth of Antonie Bryndáčova in Drahlín around 1840. b. Search for Vaclav Vesley's birth in Čenkov (Jince parish) probably in the 1850s or before since he had a child in 1871. c. Search for his parents' marriage: Václav Vesely and Josefa Lukášová, probably before 1850 in Čenkov (Jince parish) and any of their other children’s births. d. If these records are found, continue to extend these lines if the books are still available only onsite. 2. Search for the baptism of Anna Hrubá in Kuřimany (Jinín parish) on the Třebon Regional Archive website, around 1771. Her parents were Jan Hruby and Anna Brynda. Birth records go back to 1661, and marriages and deaths to 1665 for this parish. 3. Search for the marriage of Mariana Krupkova/Zbornikova and Anton Vaček in Strakonice about 1793. Also search for Mariana’s baptism (parents Vaclav Krupka/Zbornik and Teresie). Strakonice registers extend back to 1660 for births, 1664 for marriages and 1706 for deaths. 4. Search for the marriage of Franz Vladkya and Anna Šoumar in Žarova, about 1800. 5. Search for the baptisms of the siblings of Jan Motl/Mareš in Zahorčice, and his parents’ marriage (Jiří Motl and Rozina) in Zahorčice. 6. Search for the baptisms of the siblings of Kateřina Kralová and her parents‘ marriage (Josef Kral and Magdalena Holuvuičkova) in Jetišov. 2 Research Report The goals of this research session were to continue extending the ancestry of Karl Motl and Barbara Dittrich by starting with the Novy and Vesely families whose records were more likely to be found in digitized records published online by Czech archives. Drahlin records Research began with a search for the birth of Antonie Bryndáčova (the mother of Anna Veselá) in 1840 in Drahlin. This birthdate had been found on her death record during the last research session. Unfortunately, the births and marriages around 1840 in Drahlin are not available online. We searched the index that was available but did not find a match for her baptism record. The Drahlin records will need to be searched onsite. Searching for “Ražowitz” Next, we began searching for the marriage of Josef Novy and Marianna Kusova in Kraselov parish (Švejcarova Lhota). When no such marriage was found, we reexamined the birth records of their children to determine if there was any other useful information about Mariana which had been overlooked. These birth records appear to list her hometown as “Ražowitz,” not Rakowitz, as previously thought. However, there appears to be no such town of that name, according to the GenTeam gazetteer, which includes both the old German names of towns as well as their modern equivalents. During previous research, the marriages in the parish of Čimelice (town of Rakovice) were searched for the marriage of Josef Novy and Mariana Kusová, but the document in question was not found. With the new information that the town could be something close to 3 “Ražowitz,” a study was undertaken of all the towns near Lhota Švejcarova that could be possible matches. This resulted in the discovery of a town called Horažd’ovice, which was only 23.1 km away from Švejcarova Lhota and phonetically similar in pronunciation to “Ražowitz.” We searched for the marriage of Josef Novy and Marianna Kusova in records for that town, but still, no marriage was found. Map showing the route from Švejcarova Lhota to Horažd’ovice to Dražovice. The next town with a name similar to “Ražovitz” was Radošovice, which was also near Lhota Švejčarova. Radošovice belonged to the parish of Strakonice, so that parish was also searched for the relevant marriage. Nothing was found there either, upon which three other towns were then identified as likely candidates: Radkovice, Dražovice, and Stražovice. Radkovice belonged to the parish of Cestice, so that parish’s marriage index was searched as well. Dražovice belonged to Žihobce and Bukovník parishes, and those parish marriage records were examined too. No marriage for Josef Novy and Mariana Kusová was found. Stražovice belonged to the parish of Radobytce, which was also searched, but again, 4 our efforts were unfruitful. At this point, all the similarly-named towns in the area had been searched. Map showing the locations of Švejcarova Lhota in relation to Radkovice and Radošovice. Other Czech lines With the online research temporarily at a standstill concerning the Novy and Vesely lines, we moved on to extending other branches in the client’s lineage. On the Plateník line, we began by searching for the baptisms of Tomáš Plateník’s siblings and his parents’ marriage in Hoštice u Volyně Parish, in the records held at the Třebon Regional Archive. These were successfully found, as well as death records for some of the siblings. Tomáš’ parents Jakub and Anna Vačkova married on 20 May 1817, and had their first child the next year. In total, they had eleven children, six of which died as infants. Anna died in childbirth with their last 5 baby, Barbora, at age 38.
