A LESSIO P I Z Z E C H – Stage Director Alessio Pizzech, born in Livorno (Tuscany) in 1972, is a all-round showman. He studied singing as a child, he worked in a circus up to age of 18, then he dedicated himself to stage direction, becoming in a very short time one of the most acclaimed Italian emerging directors. With terrific energy he has staged about 150 prose and opera productions, collaborating with all the leading Italian theaters and festivals. Devoted to the staging of opera since 1997, he is a regular guest of some among the most important opera houses and festival, in Italy and also abroad, including Teatro la Fenice di Venezia, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino – Opera di Firenze, Teatro Regio di Torino, Festival della Valle d’Itria Martina Franca, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo, Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Teatro Alighieri di Ravenna, Teatro del Giglio di Lucca, Teatro Comunale di Modena, Teatro Comunale di Ferrara, Teatro Municipale di Piacenza, Teatro Verdi di Pisa, Teatro Lirico di Spoleto, Sawakami Opera Foundation Japan, Innsbrucker Festwochen der Alten Musik, Mozarteum in Salzburg, Slovenja National Theatre of Maribor, Conservatory of Stavanger in Norway, Oslo Festival. Among his many theatre productions, we can mention, for the outstanding success of critics and public, Per non morire di mafia and Dopo il silenzio (both staging of books by Piero Grasso, Italian anti-Mafia prosecutor and important politician), and La carne del marmo , a play about Michelangelo Buonarroti with Alessio Boni. He currently teaches acting at the National Academy of Ancient Drama of Siracusa.
