21 FCSS

Have you heard the old adage “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”? Meaning that a little precaution before a crisis is preferable to a lot of fixing up afterwards? Then you have the essence of the FCSS philosophy. It aims to enhance the social well- being of individuals, families and community through preventative social programs as well as information and referral to services in our area.

To achieve this the Fairview and District FCSS grants out over half of its budget annually to such amazing programs as the Family School Liaison, Ignite Youth, Mommy & Me, Junior Lifeguard Club, The Inclusive Arts Program, Bonding with Baby and the Newcomer’s Welcome Bags. It also runs numerous programs directly. Such as Computer and Craft/Social Courses for Seniors, Disaster Preparedness Planning, and Emergency Social Services in a Disaster, Snow Angels, Green Angels, The Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, Summer Program Sign Up Night, The Programs & Services Fair, Volunteer Week, Senior’s Week, and the Family and Community Resource People Helping Library and Centre. 1 Town Utility Bills

Your utility bills are mailed out at the beginning of each month (for the previous month’s consumption). New radio frequency meters have been installed in almost all of the households and businesses. You will receive an accurate monthly bill for actual consumption. After the actual reading, you will be charged $2.95 per cubic meter for residential accounts and non-residential accounts.

In addition to the consumption rate for water you will be charged a flat rate for the Sewer service for residential and non-residential accounts. Our Capital Replacement fee has gone back to a flat monthly fee.

If your bill is exceedingly high, check your toilet(s), faucets, humidifiers, icemakers and outdoor taps for leaks.

We are pleased to offer our residents the option of paperless billing. This means that you would receive an email copy of your bill each month instead of the paper copy in the mail. As an incentive to sign-up for this service, there is currently a $5 credit on your first utility bill upon signing up.

To avoid the dreaded “Blue Note” we also have a preauthorized payment plan that debits your account on the 20th of each month. This debit can only be from a valid bank account. This saves you from forgetting to pay your bill by the end of the month. The current utility bylaw may be viewed online at www.fairview.ca
