A total of 5 nudibranch species are reported from the Norwegian coast for the first time (Doridoxa ingolfiana, Goniodoris castanea, Onchidoris sparsa, Eubranchus rupium and Proctonotus mucro- niferus). In addition 10 species that can be considered rare in Norwegian waters are presented with new information (Lophodoris danielsseni, Onchidoris depressa, Palio nothus, Tritonia griegi, Tritonia lineata, Hero formosa, Janolus cristatus, Cumanotus beaumonti, Berghia norvegica and Calma glau- coides), in some cases with considerable changes to their distribution. These new results present an update to our previous extensive investigation of the nudibranch fauna of the Norwegian coast from 2005, which now totals 87 species. An increase in several new species to the Norwegian fauna and new records of rare species, some with considerable updates, in relatively few years results mainly from sampling effort and contributions by specialists on samples from poorly sampled areas. doi: 10.5324/fn.v31i0.1576. A blind abyssal Corambidae (Mollusca, Nudibranchia) SARSIA from the Norwegian Sea, with a reevaluation of the systematics of the family. – Sarsia 83:15-20. Bergen. ISSN 0036-4827. Echinocorambe brattegardi gen. et sp. nov. is described based on five eyeless specimens collected between 2538 and 3016 m depth in the Norwegian Sea. This new monotypic genus differs from other confamilial taxa in having the dorsum covered with long papillae and a radula formula n.3.1.3.n. The posterior notch in the notum and gill morphology, which have traditionally been used as generic characters in the family Corambidae, are considered to have little or no taxonomical value above species level. Instead of the currently described 11 nominal genera, we recognize as valid only Corambe and Loy, to which is now added Echinocorambe. Loy differs from Corambe in the asym- metrical lobes of the posterior notal notch and the presence of spicules in the notum. All other nominal genera are objective or subjective synonyms of these two. Nudibranchs of the Central Western Australian Coast Justine M. Justine Arnold October 2014 i ABSTRACT Nudibranchs are a diverse group of gastropod molluscs that are distributed around the world found inhabiting coral reef ecosystems. Baseline data on nudibranchs is lacking in the mid west region of Western Australia. Four sub-regions across the Midwest; Geraldton and the three groups at the Abrolhos Islands, the Easter Group, the Wallabi Group and the Pelsaert Group were the focus of nudibranch diversity surveys. Collection of quantitative information to establish a biogeographical baseline for the nudibranchs of this region was one of the main aims of this study. In total 89 dives were made over the duration of this study, with an average dive time of 30 minutes. A total of 296 individual nudibranchs were observed. The most abundant family found was Chromodorididae and Chromodoris westraliensis was the dominant species. Equal numbers of nudibranchs were found at shallow and deep sites, with depth found to not have a significant difference on nudibranch abundance or species abundance. Sub-region was suggested to be the predominant influence in nudibranch abundance and species richness. The probable cause for this is the influence from the Leeuwin Current and its effects on the habitat composition. -

Nearshore Marine Biodiversity of the Sunshine Coast, South-East Queensland: Inventory of molluscs, corals and fishes July 2010 Photo courtesy Ian Banks Baseline Survey Report to the Noosa Integrated Catchment Association, September 2010 Lyndon DeVantier, David Williamson and Richard Willan Executive Summary Nearshore reef-associated fauna were surveyed at 14 sites at seven locations on the Sunshine Coast in July 2010. The sites were located offshore from Noosa in the north to Caloundra in the south. The species composition and abundance of corals and fishes and ecological condition of the sites were recorded using standard methods of rapid ecological assessment. A comprehensive list of molluscs was compiled from personal observations, the published literature, verifiable unpublished reports, and photographs. Photographic records of other conspicuous macro-fauna, including turtles, sponges, echinoderms and crustaceans, were also made anecdotally. The results of the survey are briefly summarized below. 1. Totals of 105 species of reef-building corals, 222 species of fish and 835 species of molluscs were compiled. Thirty-nine genera of soft corals, sea fans, anemones and corallimorpharians were also recorded. An additional 17 reef- building coral species have been reported from the Sunshine Coast in previous publications and one additional species was identified from a photo collection. 2. Of the 835 mollusc species listed, 710 species could be assigned specific names. Some of those not assigned specific status are new to science, not yet formally described. 3. Almost 10 % (81 species) of the molluscan fauna are considered endemic to the broader bioregion, their known distribution ranges restricted to the temperate/tropical overlap section of the eastern Australian coast (Central Eastern Shelf Transition).
