4 Pentacle Theatre DIRECTOR’S NOTE

s this note is being written, it’s two weeks Abefore opening and everything is starting to come together. The lights, sounds, videos, graphics, wigs, hair, makeup, costumes, set and props are all starting to crop up all over the place as the production team is in traffi c warden mode and the cast are all trying not to run each other over. You don’t rehearse a show, you rehearse to get a show. We are all involved (the cast, the crew, the directors and designers) in the process of creating something together. It is the scariest and most wonderful thing a group of people can do, and it is you being here in the audience that makes it at all possible. Lucas Hill & Isaac Joyce-Shaw — Isaac Joyce-Shaw

n the topic of raising children, a wise woman once said: “the nights Oare long, but the years are so very short”. And it’s true. Nights when they won’t go to sleep, or days when they’re sick or hurting, seem to go on forever. Meanwhile we have, seemingly, a million other competing responsibilities, obligations, and assorted shiny objects swirling around us like a whirlwind, snatching away our most precious treasure, time. And before you know it, that baby is a toddler, that toddler is a kid riding her bike in the street, and now that kid is gone, grown up, and away.

This play is about a family caught in that whirlwind, and a mother who tries to balance it all — who tries to hang onto that thread of time before it runs out. We hope you will fi nd it truthful. — Lucas Hill
