La Defensa Medieval a Través De La Toponímia: El Cas Del Lluçanès
La defensa medieval a través de la toponímia: el cas del Lluçanès Jordi Plans Canal Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona [email protected] ABSTRACT The defense has been a constant concern of society throughout history, since it was organized in dense networks defensive, helped, in part to confront the enemy hostilities, to organize, communicate and con- trol the territory they controlled. In this sense, when archeology has not yet been implemented, a very good way to see how this defense was organized in a particular period, is through place names, which gives you an image that must be ratify in the future, through archaeological practice. Keywords : Defense, toponymy, Castellar, Torre, Miralles/Miranda, Guàrdia, Talaia, Cireres, Castell. Stuart Christie Obituary | Politics | the Guardian
8/29/2020 Stuart Christie obituary | Politics | The Guardian Stuart Christie obituary Anarchist who was jailed in Spain for an attempt to assassinate Franco and later acquitted of being a member of the Angry Brigade Duncan Campbell Mon 17 Aug 2020 10.40 BST In 1964 a dashing, long-haired 18-year-old British anarchist, Stuart Christie, faced the possibility of the death penalty in Madrid for his role in a plot to assassinate General Franco, the Spanish dictator. A man of great charm, warmth and wit, Christie, who has died of cancer aged 74, got away with a 20-year prison sentence and was eventually released after less than four years, only to find himself in prison several years later in Britain after being accused of being a member of the Angry Brigade, a group responsible for a series of explosions in London in the early 1970s. On that occasion he was acquitted, and afterwards he went on to become a leading writer and publisher of anarchist literature, as well as the author of a highly entertaining memoir, Granny Made Me an Anarchist. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2020/aug/17/stuart-christie-obituary 1/5 8/29/2020 Stuart Christie obituary | Politics | The Guardian Christie’s Franco-related mission was to deliver explosives to Madrid for an attempt to blow up the Spanish leader while he attended a football match at the city’s Bernabéu stadium. Telling his family that he was going grape-picking in France, he went first to Paris, where it turned out that the only French he knew, to the amusement of his anarchist hosts, was “Zut, alors!” There he was given explosives and furnished with instructions on how to make himself known to his contact by wearing a bandage on his hand. -

Bonanno First Published by Tchou Éditions 1970 This edition translated by Paul Sharkey footnotes translated by Laetitia Introduction by Alfredo M. Bonanno translated by Jean Weir Published in September 2010 by Elephant Editions and Bandit Press Elephant Editions Ardent Press 2013 introduction i the bandits 1 the agitator 37 introduction The impossibility of a perspective that is fully organized in all its details having been widely recognised, rigor and precision have disappeared from the field of human expectations and the need for order and security have moved into the sphere of desire. There, a last fortress built in fret and fury, it has established a foothold for the final battle. Desire is sacred and inviolable. It is what we hold in our hearts, child of our instincts and father of our dreams. We can count on it, it will never betray us. The newest graves, those that we fill in the edges of the cemeteries in the suburbs, are full of this irrational phenomenology. We listen to first principles that once would have made us laugh, assigning stability and pulsion to what we know, after all, is no more than a vague memory of a passing wellbeing, the fleeting wing of a gesture in the fog, the flapping morning wings that rapidly ceded to the needs of repetitiveness, the obsessive and disrespectful repetitiveness of the bureaucrat lurking within us in some dark corner where we select and codify dreams like any other hack in the dissecting rooms of repression. -

Vol. 9 No. 9 May 1st, 1948 Threepence THE MAT-DAY SPIRIT Working Class Unity, Freedom & Solidarity AY DAY is traditionally Labour’s Day. But, like many other traditions, the idea it enshrines M are to-day very different from those which originally inspired it. Sixty years ago, the advanced sections of the revolutionary labour movement in America, and especially the Chicago anarchists, conceived the idea of an international demonstration to take place on every succeeding May 1st. The workers in every country on that day were to down tools and make a demonstration of the unity and solidarity of their class. It was to be, in effect, a one day general strike on an international scale. The revolutionary workers at the end of the last century, of course, did not look upon such a demonstration as becoming in any way a tradition; they regarded it as a step which, if effectively carried out, would complete the revolutionary education of the workers and provide such a demon stration of working-class strength as would convince the timorous that by acting in solidarity the workers could bring to an end the era of capitalism and privilege and usher in instead the era of equality and justice— the social revolution. -

Who would have suspected that a few men supplying boots, linen, and clothing to deportees in Bialostock would have been the meager beginnings of an organization that has spread throughout the globe?1 Recently statements have been made, referring to the history of the Anarchist Black Cross as mere folklore. While I admit the history of this organization seems evasive at the surface level, a deeper search for the organization’s history uncovers a rich amount of information that is far from folklore or fairy tales. This article is just a small amount of the history that hasbeen discovered in just a couple of years of research. Hundreds of pages filled with facts regarding the history of the organization is presently being assembled by members of the Los Angeles Branch Group of the Anarchist Black Cross Federation in hopes of one day printing this information in books, pamphlets, etc. We present the informa- tion in hopes of bringing unity and knowledge within the ranks of those who struggle for the support of political prisoners throughout the world. The Anarchist Black Cross dates back to the beginning of the last century during the politically turbulent times of Tsarist Russia. -
Jews, Masculinity, and Political Violence in Interwar France
Jews, Masculinity, and Political Violence in Interwar France Richard Sonn University of Arkansas On a clear, beautiful day in the center of the city of Paris I performed the first act in front of the entire world. 1 Scholom Schwartzbard, letter from La Santé Prison In this letter to a left-wing Yiddish-language newspaper, Schwartzbard explained why, on 25 May 1926, he killed the former Hetman of the Ukraine, Simon Vasilievich Petliura. From 1919 to 1921, Petliura had led the Ukrainian National Republic, which had briefly been allied with the anti-communist Polish forces until the victorious Red Army pushed both out. Schwartzbard was a Jewish anarchist who blamed Petliura for causing, or at least not hindering, attacks on Ukrainian Jews in 1919 and 1920 that resulted in the deaths of between 50,000 and 150,000 people, including fifteen members of Schwartzbard's own family. He was tried in October 1927, in a highly publicized court case that earned the sobriquet "the trial of the pogroms" (le procès des pogroms). The Petliura assassination and Schwartzbard's trial highlight the massive immigration into France of central and eastern European Jews, the majority of working-class 1 Henry Torrès, Le Procès des pogromes (Paris: Editions de France, 1928), 255-7, trans. and quoted in Felix and Miyoko Imonti, Violent Justice: How Three Assassins Fought to Free Europe's Jews (Amherst, MA: Prometheus, 1994), 87. 392 Jews, Masculinity, and Political Violence 393 background, between 1919 and 1939.
