The Spirituality of the Liturgical Year Presented by Dave Stosur Sunday, January 26 11:45 am – 2:15 pm Like all God’s creatures, human beings live through time and in space. We humans, blessed with the capacity to be aware of our temporal existence, remember the past, engage the present, and anticipate the future – and know that someday we will die. The Church’s liturgical year and the rhythms of its seasons place our time-bound human existence, our personal and communal stories, within the broader story of God’s eternal love for us. This steadfast divine love is revealed in the Paschal Mystery of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection – a cadence of dying and rising encompassed always by God’s life-giving Spirit and endless mercy. Come explore how the liturgical seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and even Ordinary Time invite us to find the tempo of God’s always extraordinary grace. If you are interested in joining us, please call the Parish Office at (414) 545-4316. Like a great waterwheel, the liturgical year goes on relentlessly irrigating our souls, softening the ground of our hearts, nourishing the soil of our lives until the seed of the Word of God itself begins to grow in us, comes to fruit in us, ripens in us the spiritual journey of a lifetime. - Joan Chittister Presented by Dave Stosur, a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, is Professor of Religious Studies at Cardinal Stritch University. He holds a doctorate in liturgical theology from the University of Notre Dame, and has been teaching in theology and ministry programs for over 30 years. He serves as convener this year of the session on Liturgy and Sacraments at the annual meeting of the Catholic Theological Society of America. .
